Current of Tampa Bay Returns to Nevada During Holiday Season

Nonprofit Travels Back to Las Vegas for Fifth Annual Laundry Project on Dec. 14, 2013. 

December 12, 2013 – LAS VEGAS – For the fifth year in a row, Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. a nonprofit organization, is returning to Las Vegas to host the annual Laundry Project on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will provide free laundry services to customers at two local laundromats. The Laundry Project will take place at A+ Laundromat located at 2448 E. Bonanza Rd. and at Las Vegas Coin Laundry located at 3310 S. Nellis Blvd. 

According to a study from 8 News NOW, “1 in 9 families are living in poverty. If it’s a family of four, they are living on less than $23,550 a year. A single person is struggling even more, living on less than $11,490 a year.” Not only does poverty affect the urban and high-populated communities, but also the percentage of residents living in poverty is increasing in the suburbs as well.

“I am so excited to be going back to Nevada for a fifth year,” said Current President, Jason Sowell. “I feel extremely passionate about the services we provide to those who are struggling and know we are really making a difference in their lives. We are really try to bring love and holiday cheer to those we help in Las Vegas.”

Grace Point Church located, in North Las Vegas, will be sponsoring the event and local Starbucks employees have also kindly agreed to offer their support and volunteer. Local community members can assist through donating much needed supplies: detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), 1-gallon Ziploc bags, garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener, and laundry baskets.
