Australian Fashion Brand to Showcase New Spring/Summer 2016 Collection Again During Vancouver Fashion Week

Following last year’s successful showcase, GREEN EMBASSY will be unveiling their new ‘Silent Rainforest’ SS16 Collection to the world. A fascinating range of real –life flowers, plants and natural materials to help convey the fragility of the world’s ecosystems. This time abstract eco-prints are made from hibiscus flowers, bougainvillea’s, ferns , orchids, purple carrots, pomegranates, forest berries, beetroot, red cabbage and turmeric on Peace/Vegan silk. To emulate the transient nature of the rainforest’s drops and dew designer Zuhal Kuvan-Mills used delightful bursts of Swarovski crystal, beads and glass. The collection is a feast for the senses with an arresting palette of golds, creams, crimsons and violets. Delicate and subtle, yet visually stunning, ‘Silent Rainforest’ was created to evoke the lightness of the rainforest canopy with its sea of ferns, mosses, trees, butterflies, colourful birds and orchids.

“The title Silent Rainforest is obviously a tribute to Silent Spring, the 1962 classic by Rachel Carson – a book which is credited for launching the modern environmental movement. Rainforests are the world’s most diverse habitat. While they cover only a small percentage of the planet’s land mass, they shelter half of all the animal and plant species. Unfortunately this rich heritage is fast disappearing at the hands of commercialization.” States designer and founder of GREEN EMBASSY, Zuhal Kuvan-Mills. “One of my greatest wishes as an eco fashion designer and textile artist is to act as a guardian of the earth. “Interestingly, the idea for Silent Rainforest emerged after a recent trip I made to Bali. In this range, though, I’ve added another amazing hand-made fabric to my repertoire – Peace silk – Vegan Silk that’s been ethically sourced and then hand woven by local artisans from a rainforest region in the Indian state of Orissa.”
