Here is what 100 Senators learned today about North Korea

On August 24^th, 2016, North Korea successfully launched a ballistic missile from a submarine and on September 9^th of 2016, successfully tested a miniaturized warhead. Current U.S intelligence suggests that North Korea now possesses the capability to launch a nuclear attack on the U.S main land.

North Korea is estimated to have 29 nuclear weapons. It is still undetermined whether or not it possesses the H-bomb.

North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un has placed the Korean People’s Army on high alert and North Korean troop movements towards the Korean Demilitarized Zone have been observed by U.S satellite imagery.

Exercise ‘Foal Eagle’ will continue at low-levels as the U.S continues to move more naval and air assets into theater. Currently, the U.S has 19,700 troops in South Korea in support of 312,000 South Korean troops. Also observed is activity taking place near a North Korean nuclear facility.

As of 4/26/17, sources from North Korea indicate that a nuclear test is not imminent. This suggest that U.S military pressure is detering the North Korean leadership from conducting the test.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has agreed to restrain from intervening in a United States led military incursion in North Korea as long as the U.S ground forces do not cross into the territory of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Only South Korean ground forces may proceed past the Korean Demilitarized Zone.
