2012 Tier Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet

Just before I sat down to right this post featuring BenJarvus Green-Ellis, news from Bengals beat-writer Joe Reedy, informs us to expect the Bengals to use a committee at running back. This is a minor surprise, not so much because the Law Firm is better suited in a committee, but more Cincinnati’s unwavering use of a feature back over the years.
Over the past few seasons, Cedric Benson didn’t exactly light up the field with his play, but the Bengals seemed hesitant to work Bernard Scott into the offense more. Now with Green-Ellis on board, they seem to be rethinking this idea, and it will hurt his current draft stock in my June tier cheat sheet.
In future updates you will probably see Green-Ellis tailed back to a RB3 and will be in the 5th tier grouping of tailbacks as opposed to the 4th tier.
If Scott should struggle in an expanded role, Green-Ellis will likely find himself in a feature role, as I don’t anticipate other tailbacks like rookie Dan “Boom” Heron making an impact this year. This would obviously increase the veterans value, because we don’t have many running backs around the league that threaten close to twenty carries a week.
