Riding the Waivers for Week 9

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

We are officially, almost, nearly half way through the NFL season. By now you should know the drill. I recommend players that are owned in less than 50% of Yahoo! leagues, you pick up said players, you profit. Here are some players to take a look at in Week 9:

Carson Palmer – OAK vs. TB (41% Owned)
Tampa Bay just made the Vikings look horrendous but Carson Palmer is a little better than Christian Ponder. He also has a little more variety of options with Denarius Moore and Heyward-Bey. Don’t expect miracles for Palmer this week but he will at least be serviceable if you need to fill in for Tom Brady on a Bye.

Davone Bess – MIA @ IND (25% Owned)
Bess got 9 targets last week, converting on four of them for 28 yards. Not an ideal game, but you have to admire the number of targets. Now they head to Indy, where the Colts defense is not exactly 49er-like. I think Hartline and Bess are both solid plays, however Bess is the receiver under 50% owned in Yahoo! leagues.

Brandon LaFell – CAR @ WAS (20% Owned)
LaFell is averaging five targets per game this year and now faces a weak Redskins secondary. This game should be a high-scoring shootout where passes should be flying all over the place, which is why I like LaFell’s this week.

Jacquizz Rodgers – ATL vs. DAL (31% Owned)
This youngster out of Oregon State is such a big play threat, that it’s hard to hold him off this list. Rodgers converted on all five targets he received last week, and rushed the ball eight times as well. Falcons should have a lead this week vs. the Cowboys, meaning more opportunities for Jacquizz.

Jonathan Dwyer – PIT @ NYG (46% Owned)
Still only owned in 46% of Yahoo! Leagues, he will finally get over the 50% owned marker this week after another solid performance against the G-Men. The Steelers are much more pass happy this year, but they aren’t dumb. If or when they get a lead, Dwyer will be relied upon to soak up the clock.

Anthony Fasano – MIA @ IND (9% Owned)
Fasano has three touchdowns on the year, is averaging 5 targets per game and is playing a weak Indy Defense. Still gets no love.

San Diego Defense vs. KC (33% Owned)
This is a division rivalry game against a team with the worst offense in all of football. I expect this one to get ugly early, and for the Chargers to run the ball most of the second half. They should give up less than 20 points here and force a few turnovers in the process.

==Last Week’s Recap==
Sam Bradford – New England showed up in London ready to play. The Rams did not. This was a disappointing showing for everyone, except for maybe Chris Givens.
Titus Young – My best receiver recommendation to date. Titus had his best game of the season and maybe his career. 100 yards and 2 touchdowns. Very solid.
Leonard Hankerson – To offset my great Titus pick, Hankerson had a real stinker. 16 yards and no touchdown. Eeeek.
Jonathan Dwyer – A very friendly 107 rushing yards with 8 extra yards receiving, as well. Like I said in the preseason, Dwyer has emerged as the goto back in Pittsburgh.
Vick Ballard – This was a very average game until he caught the game-winning touchdown in overtime. That being said, it still happened, so it turned out to be a very solid recommendation. This situation is probably going to annoy a lot of fantasy owners moving forward. Probably best to look elsewhere from now on.
Jacob Tamme – 33 yards, no touchdown. Looks like the other Josh was right when he said to bench Tamme.
Cleveland Defense – What a solid performance out of this no-named Defense that was available in just about every league. They held the Chargers to 6 points, had a sack and recovered one fumble. Solid, solid, solid.
