Fantasy Football Outlook: Flacco won the lottery when he helped the Ravens win a Super Bowl in a contract year. While Flacco will continue to be a solid NFL quarterback, I will be interested to see how Baltimore plays with the defense undergoing a heavy rebuild and the loss of possession receiver Anquan Boldin.
Second-year man Deonte Thompson may win a starting job, or the Ravens could sign a veteran in free agency. I’m not sure Torrey Smith guy who will catch more than 65 receptions in a season but because Boldin is gone, this could be the year.
If the Ravens defense struggles, Flacco should have an opportunity to throw for over 4,000 yards for the first time in his career. If things workout this way in Baltimore, I would also figure Flacco will set a career high in interceptions as well, as he has to throw from behind more than he’s used to in his career.
Someone may take a chance on Flacco as a depth option in your league but I recommend you go after someone like Sam Bradford, Carson Palmer or even Jay Cutler instead.

Summer of 2012: Fantasy Projections
While Joe Flacco is talented enough to contribute to the Ravens Super Bowl asperations, he seems to have fallen out of favor with fantasy owners, still hoping he would develop into something more than a reserve player. Recent ADP trends have Flacco as the 22nd quarterback off the board and while his numbers from a year ago, would’ve made him a top 15 or 12 quarterback, ten years back, it’s just not good enough in today’s game.
Still a worthy backup, Flacco will likely do a better job of turning Torrey Smith into a possible star, as he has plenty of arm-strength get the football down field, as Smith stretches the field. While Anquan Boldin will contribute, he’s clearly not the same player he was back in Arizona and is more suited to be the teams No.3 receiver than a regular starter.
Look for the Ravens to win with defense and running the football first, with Flacco taking calculated shots down the field, and driving us all nuts because his talent suggests he’s capable of more.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Many were disappointed by Joe Flacco’s numbers last year, but as I wrote in last summer, the Ravens were counting on Donte Stallworth to be their deep threat, and that should have been a sign that this offense wasn’t going to produce at its peak level.
At the draft, Baltimore selected Torrey Smith, but it’s hard for most rookies to make a big impact in their first year, and with the lockout, it was clear after a couple of weeks into camp, that Smith wasn’t ready to start. Enter Lee Evans and I now feel confident that you will see the Ravens perform the way we expected a year ago.
Evans finally has the structure around him to flourish as he did in his first two seasons, when he had Eric Moulds and Drew Bledsoe on the field. The addition of Evans gives Flacco the deep threat he needs, and his presence will also help Anquan Boldin, Ray Rice and Smith. Look to Flacco as a nice backup to select on draft day.

June 2011
If you find yourself disappointed in Joe Flacco’s fantasy numbers last season, you’re not alone as the young quarterback was a trendy fantasy sleeper coming into last season. The Ravens added a few veteran receivers to help him out but in the end Donte Stallworth wasn’t up to the challenge of making for a respectable vertical threat and the Ravens seemed to have too many receivers for the short passing game.
At the draft, the Ravens selected Torrey Smith to help with the down the field threat but a rookie with no OTA work isn’t likely to make a huge impact in his first year. Flacco is still worth having as a backup for fantasy football, but he’s probably another year or two off from threatening as a weekly starter.
2010 Preview
Baltimore needed to upgrade in speed at the receiver position and that is why they signed Donte’ Stallworth. Hopefully, Stallworth can help Joe Flacco take the next step and become a solid backup fantasy quarterback for 2010.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Joe Flacco had his share of problems with receiving talent last year, but he progressed in his numbers anyway. For the year Flacco threw for more than 3,600 yards passing and had 21 touchdown passes. This is the kind of progression you want to see from a young quarterback as Flacco looks ready to be a legit fantasy player.
Audio: QB Joe Flacco | 2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings
2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: The offseason has been kind to Flacco as the Ravens went out and traded for Anquan Boldin. Now, Flacco finally had a true No.1 receiver and that wasn’t all the team gave him. Additions of speedster Donte’ Stallworth and rookie tight ends Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta will help him as well.
Look for Flacco as one of the top fantasy sleepers for the 2010 season as he should post over 3,800 yards passing and over 25 touchdowns.
Not only does this young quarterback have weapons, but he also has a solid offensive line to help him have time in the pocket. Put it all together and Flacco will be starting on many fantasy squads by mid season.
