Fantasy Football Outlook: If you own Hillman in a dynasty league like I do, you know it was a downer to hear GM John Elway talk about Hillman as a change of pace running back before the draft and then select Montee Ball in the second round.
Don’t count Hillman out yet to be a factor (especially in PPR leagues) as Hillman was running with the first team in OTAs and has reportedly done a better job in his pass protection assignments and added muscle in the off-season.
Still one of the younger players in the league, Hillman will develop added muscle over the years, and if it doesn’t workout in Denver to be a starter, he could get that chance by the 2016 off-season. By that time he will be four years into the league, and I believe he will have the size to get a chance, if he plays well on the field.
For those of you that play in redraft leagues, we could see Hillman win the starting job to begin the year, but I’m not sure how many touches he will see in a given week and we should see up to a three-man committee.
We will have to keep an eye on Denver’s situation through training camp, but as Cecil Lammey points out in a terrific article, we can’t forget Coach John Fox has a history of not trusting rookie running backs, much like he didn’t in Hillman’s case last year.
That’s something to remember for all you Ball lovers that want to jump on him as a top 25 back on draft day.

Summer of 2012: Fantasy Projection
The situation is ripe in Denver for Ronnie Hillman to make a big impact in his rookie year. Willis McGahee is an aging veteran, and his style of play was better suited for the run heavy offense under Tim Tebow.
Hillman may not be an explosive back, but he can get it done inbetween the tackles and will help Peyton Manning in the passing game.
With only Knowshon Moreno and Lance Ball as legitimate competition, it’s no wonder the Broncos already tabbed Hillman as the second back on the depth chart in May.
Current ADP trends have Hillman as the 49th running back off the board, and I expect his stock to rise during the summer. This will likely be a much talked about name by late August, so if you’re in early redrafts, make sure you lock him up in the later rounds.
As for dynasty rookie drafts, Hillman should be viewed as the fourth best running back on the board, and a first-round selection.
