While I have my concerns that Cobb will ever develop into an elite touchdown maker at his position, we should feel good about his odds of leading the Packers in receptions for years to come. Cobb is a special talent and presents matchup problems to defenses as Green Bay moves him around in the offense, even lining up in the backfield weekly.
I actually have Jordy Nelson ranked over Cobb in standard leagues, but I feel confident listing him as a top ten option in PPR leagues because if any receiver has a chance at 100 receptions on this team it’s Cobb, and it’s not close.
Recently I attempted to acquire Cobb in one of my PPR dynasty leagues, but his owner was budging even though I felt like I gave him a decent offer. The cat is out of the bag on Cobb after a breakout 2011 season and the scary thing is, he’s probably only going to be better as time goes on.
Having Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback in what will continue to be a pass first offense (despite adding two talented running backs in the draft) Cobb is a safe WR1 and I wouldn’t blame you if you targeted him as a low-end second-round pick in 10-team PPR leagues.
Look to him as more of a 4th round option in standard leagues, but hey, if any quarterback can help turn this guy into a receive with 12 or more touchdowns in a season, it’s Rodgers.
