Fantasy Football Start ’em Sit ’em Week 4

Welp, we all knew this would happen at some point in the season… the dreaded first COVID outbreak in the NFL regular season. It was reported on Tuesday morning that 3 players and 5 personnel members of the Tennessee Titans had tested positive for the virus, causing them to suspend all in-person club activities for the week.

Since they just played the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3, the Vikings organization had decided to shut down their club activities as well, putting their games against the Texans and Steelers in Week 4 in jeopardy of being postponed or cancelled altogether. This is an unprecedented time for the NFL and fantasy players alike who have never dealt with unpredictability like this in recent memory.

If you have key players on these teams, do your research prior to the game and judge accordingly. Take calculated risks if you have someone who has a prime matchup on your bench who may produce as good or better than the player in your lineup whose game is in question. Fantasy football is a game of adapting to ever-changing circumstances, so don’t get rattled and play your game.

Week 4 Start ’em Devin Singletary – Bills RB

Singletary has been able to fend off the much-hyped rookie Zach Moss through 3 weeks, and has established himself as the featured running back for a Bills offense that is quickly becoming a team that some experts are predicting to make the leap to Super Bowl contender. Singletary’s touches and yards have increased each week, and even though Moss (toe) has returned to practice Wednesday, Singletary should still continue to see the bulk of the carries & snaps Week 4.

The Bills take their winning streak on the road to the Las Vegas desert where they will be VIP guests of a Raiders defense that just allowed 250 yards rushing to Rex Burkhead and Sony Michel. Fire up Singletary as a sure-fire RB2 and FLEX play who will see multiple trips to the cashier’s booth aka the end zone.

Devin Singletary Week 4 Projections: 17 rushing attempts, 110 yards rushing, 5 receptions, 20 receiving yards, 2 rushing TD’s

Week 4 Sit ’em Gardner Minshew II – Jaguars QB

Minshew Mania was alive and well in the first 2 weeks of the season, but the Dolphins defense exposed the mustachioed gunslinger as a mere mortal in Week 3. We now know what made Minshew a decent NFL quarterback, and his name is DJ Chark. Without his go-to target due to injury, Minshew was unable to connect on any downfield passes, forcing the Jags to feed the ball on the ground with James Robinson (my featured start last week) who had 2 rushing TD’s.

Minshew failed to throw a TD and was wildly inaccurate, throwing 2 INT’s and looking lost for much of the night. In Week 4, he has a juicy matchup against the Bengals, but I am not going to fall for this again. I predict Chark will once again be unavailable and Minshew will prove once and for all that beards are better, just ask Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Gardner Minshew Week 4 Projections: 43 passing attempts, 27 completions, 257 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 1 INT, 1 Fumble
