Twilight: Eclipse Review

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The lights dimmed, and about a hundred teenage girls screamed. About fifty of the girls screamed, “Team Jacob!” and another forty yelled out, “Team Edward!”. The lone Potter fans in the crowd, including myself, mumbled a faint, “Team…Potter?”.

You can probably guess where I was last night.

Yes, I (luckily?) managed to get myself a trio of Twilight: Eclipse screening tickets. I myself didn’t expect much, since the first movie (Twilight) was a failure, as the director was aiming for an “artistic” perspective, and ruined the entire movie. Most viewers will remember during the kissing scenes, strange German-Alien-Techno-type music playing in the background. New Moon was tons better and clean cut then it’s prequel, but it still failed to impress me more then a bitter, “Well, it was better than Twilight,”, which was the reaction that most people seemed to have. Then, the Eclipse trailer came out and to my astonishment, Edward’s makeup didn’t appear to cake on his face, Bella actually smiled, and Jacob’s abs didn’t bulge out at strange angles.

I was honestly surprised.

It wasn’t that bad! The camera angles were surprisingly refreshing, and it was fun to watch. Although the girls in my theatre literally fanned themselves every time Jacob tried to kiss Bella (and trust me, they stopped after the third time), I must admit that the acting job didn’t do it for me to actually believe that Bella was distressed/happy/concerned/sad/feeling emotion all together (each emotion had the same facial expression).

They was only one problem.

If you didn’t read the books, then you’d be pretty much lost in the movie. What was going on the entire time was a mystery to (apparently) even an actor or two didn’t understand the plot while filming the movie…so basically here are my underlying points:

  • The movie was better then the first two movies.
  • The details of the wedding between Bella and Edward are revealed (as well as the pricy-looking diamond ring!)
  • The phrase “you know that you love me” is said repeatedly by….you’ll have to see the movie to confirm who you think says that.
  • It’s fun to see for the Twi-hards
  • Not so fun for all the dads here
  • Spend your hard earned money (about $50 total for food and drinks and stuff) at the theatre? Nah. Try Blue Ray or DVD. That would be the smartest thing to do.

**Quote of the movie (said by the security guard), “Keep the screaming down to a minimum when Jacob or Edward or whatever comes on screen. Don’t say, ‘hey, this is the part in the book when-’, honestly, NOBODY CARES.”**
