Second Act For a Floor Trader

You run into all kinds of people on a trading floor.  I have met and interacted with some of the most despicable people human kind has produced, and also met some of the classiest individuals human kind produces.  There are a million stories from the floor.

When you are on a trading floor, you don’t run into a lot of people that served in the military. Most of the guys I knew were older. They served in Vietnam. Some even were pre-Nam, and I was too late to the floor to know many World War Two or Korean War vets, although they were there. Used to be a cattle trader that served on an LST in the Navy-was at D-Day. Serving your country came before assuming the life of a trader, and often it wasn’t by choice.

A group of traders made a documentary of certain aspects of the trading floor.  I have seen the movie, and reviewed it.  One of the real life characters from the floor was Rob Prosniewski.  If you were a trader on the floor, you’d remember his trading jacket.  Had the Beach Boys album Endless Summer on the back of it.

Rob is now a medic in the US Army. He is stationed in Afghanistan, somewhere near the Pakistan border. I can’t help but think of the movie Restrepo when I think about where he is.

God bless Rob. He always had a cast iron set of balls in the open outcry pit. He also was a “stand up” guy. Godspeed to him and I am glad a person of his character is patching up GI’s and saving lives.
