This Sums Up The Campaign For 2012

This article in Politico caught my eye.  Why haven’t the Republicans in Washington DC said much about gay marriage being ratified in the states?

One reason is that the movement in the Republican party today is for smaller, more limited government.  States right’s are important.  Why meddle from Washington?

Secondly, this sums it all up and the media and Democrats are still missing it.

“The only person who ever asks me about it is, I think, the media,” said freshman Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.). “When you got the highest unemployment, highest foreclosures and highest bankruptcy, social issues right now take a back seat to putting food on the table.”

Government policy is bankrupting the country. Senator Heller has the right tone. Abortion has been on the books since the 1970′s, and there is a bunch of case law and precedent now on the books; the odds are it’s not going anywhere. Gay marriage is such a small issue to most people that are simply trying to eek out a living without Big Brother interference.
