Stocks Plunge S&P Hits New Low for the Year – Red October S&P 500, Dow Jones, Nasdaq 100 stocks close towards the lows. Wall Street Starts Q4 With a Thud; S&P Hits New Low for the Year! Concerns about the euro zone were once again the focus in commodities. Those concerns led to a flight to safety in the precious metals. Dow Jones closed down 2.36% or 258.08 points to close at 10,666, S&P 500 closes down 2.85% or 32.19 points to close at 1,099.23. A close below 1,100 makes it a fresh 2011 low and we have lower pockets of support that we’ll be updating at Stockmarketfunding, Nasdaq 100 closes down 2.53% or 54.14 points to close at 2,085.04.

The bear market winners that closed at the high of the day are TZA the Direxion Small Cap 3x Bear and FAZ the Direxion Financial Bear 3x. FAZ closed up $9.58 or 14.52% on 28,881,059 relative to it’s 3 month average volume of 19,613,600. TZA cloed up $8.97 or 16.93% on 39,563,744 shares relative to it’s 3 month average volume of 24,064,800.
