FAANG Report: Taiwanese hacker vows to delete Mark Zuckerberg's FB page; Apple hacker avoids jail time

A Taiwanese ‘white hat’ hacker claims he will broadcast himself hacking the page of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Sunday and delete his account, a report by The Verge said.

Chang Chi-yuan promised to do the deed on Facebook Live. If successful, this will not be the first time Zuckerberg’s page has been hacked.

Back in 2011, a hacker managed to successfully post a status update from Zuckerberg’s account, encouraging the founder to let users invest in the social media network and turn it into a “social business.”

Facebook shares fell 1.32% to $166.61.

The Australian teenager who hacked into Apple Inc’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) corporate network and stole confidential information will avoid spending time in jail, ZDNet said in a report.

The teen was 16 at the time of the attacks and was not named for legal reasons, but pled guilty to two acounts, the unauthorized and reckless modification of data and unauthorized access of data in the Australian Children’s Court this week.

Such charges can carry a jail term of up to two years and 12 months respectively. The teen’s legal counsel said the attack was rooted in his fascination with Apple. The roughly 90GB of data was stores on his personal computer in a folder named ‘Hacky Hack Hack Methods Exclude.’

Apple stock edged up 0.02% to $225.

Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) founder and CEO Jeff Bezos said the company’s employees can approach different executives to greenlight an idea even if their immediate boss said no, a report by CNBC said.

“You want a large number of high level people empowered to greenlight things,” Bezos said, adding that he often has people at Amazon go around him.

“I’ll say, ‘I don’t think that’s a good idea’ but somebody else will greenlight it,” admits Bezos. “And I’m fine with that because usually the cost of the experiment is pretty small.”

Amazon stock added 0.13% to $2,015.65.

Alphabet Inc’s Google Maps (NASDAQ:GOOG) is now rolling out to users a feature that allows them to create a shortlist of restaurants and other destinations that can be shared with friends so they can vote where to go, a report by The Verge said.

The group will be able to see the relative locations of each destination in their app or browser, and they can vote with a thumbs-up or thumbs-down, and Google will keep score.

Members of the group are also free to add their own suggestions. Group planning was just one of the new features Google announced for its navigation map, the report said.

Google shares shed 0.35% to $1,190.52.

Streaming giant Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) is expanding its international footprint with the launch of a fully-staffed Paris bureau, its third European office after Amsterdam and London, Variety said in a report.

The office in Paris will start with about 20 employees, some of whom are already working for the company in Amsterdam, and others will be new hires.

The French bureau won’t be dedicated to production as is the case in Spain, where Netflix recently bowed its first European production hub to make Spanish-language content.

But it will be staffed with executives working across several fields, including production, acquisition, and marketing, the Variety report said.

Netflix stock eased 0.44% to $379.02.
