FAANG Report: Facebook launches tools to delete bullies; Google's Project Stream may change gaming

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) said on Thursday it is introducing new tools and programs to fight the bulliying and harassment they would run into online. 

The tools will allow people to “better control unwanted, offensive or hurtful experiences on Facebook,” the item posted by the social media giant said.

Facebook said they are introducing a way for people to hide or delete multiple comments at once from the options menu of their post. The feature is rolling out on desktop and Android and will be available on iOS in the coming months. “We are also testing ways to more easily search for and block offensive words from appearing in comments,” the company said.

Facebook shares were 1.4% down at $160.17. 

Alphabet Inc’s Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has launched Project Stream which will allow Google Chrome users to stream video games, a report by Mashable said.

This will be a service that lets people play games without the need of downloading them by streaming them over the internet, the report said.

It will open up the possibility of services allowing players to play games for a limited time on a subscription basis, it said.

Shares of Google went up 0.5% to $1,201.73.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced on Thursday that it is bringing more than 70 new emoji to the iPhone with IOS 12.1, a release on the Apple Newsroom said  

They will include new characters with red hair, gray hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, more emotive smiley faces and additional emoji representing animals, sports and food. 

The new emoji are available in developer and public beta previews of iOS 12.1, and will be available in upcoming software updates for iOS, macOS and watchOS.

Apple shares added 0.95% to $229.42, having hit an all-time high of $230.

Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) has given the greenlight for a series order of Robert Jordan’s “The Wheel of Time,” a report by Hollywood Reporter said.

Spanning 14 volumes, “The Wheel of Time” has sold more than 90 million copies internationally, making it the biggest-selling fantasy series since “The Lord of the Rings,” which Amazon is also adapting for TV.

The series is set in a world where magic exists, but can only be used by women. The series draws on numerous elements of European and Asian culture and philosophy, most notably the cyclical nature of time found in Buddhism and Hinduism, the report said.

Amazon shares eased 0.64% to $1,991.50.

Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) is being underestimated by Wall Street analysts, particularly its user growth over the next several years as the company turns its focus to a larger global market, CNBC quoted investmen bankers GoldMan Sachs as saying.

“Despite Netflix outperforming consensus estimates for net subscriber additions for the past five years, analyst forecasts continue to understate the company’s future growth, both near and long term, in our view,” Goldman analyst Heath Terry said in a research note to clients.

He said the subscriber pools for the streaming service should rocket higher in large emerging markets such as India.

Netflix stock lost 1.45% to $375.90.
