Enertopia Corporation reports high levels of lithium in new round of testing in Nevada

Enertopia Corporation (CSE:TOP) (OTCMKTS:ENRT) announced positive new lithium test results from the company’s Clayton Valley project in Nevada.

The Kelowna-based company informed investors on Tuesday that pre-stripping results show high levels of lithium being put into a solution while maintaining very low impurity levels.

The technology company is aiming to determine if it is viable to pre-strip the impurities from the claystone zones at Clayton Valley prior to making synthetic brine.

The results indicate that Enertopia should be able to increase the lithium in the solution going forward, using off-the-shelf technology. Reduction of impurities in synthetic brine for processing is a key part of process cost reduction, the company told shareholders.

“Our ongoing solution testing of the drilled lithium horizons continues to provide great insights and novel ways to strive for a low-cost mining and processing solution to unlock the potential value of the Lithium enriched claystone,” said CEO Robert McAllister in a statement.

The next step in the process will involve adsorption testing that will aim to reduce contaminants while concentrating the amount of lithium in the solution.

Enertopia said its pre-processing adjustments have demonstrated positive outcomes as contaminant minerals are greatly reduced, allowing for a synthetic lithium brine that contains the fewest contaminants to be processed.

“We continue to believe that the lithium-hosted claystone deposits in Nevada could become major sources of lithium production in the 2020s and offer the US a secure domestic supply of battery-grade lithium products,” the company said in a statement.

Enertopia is exploring various strategies to continue work at Clayton Valley, including a sale or strategic alliance.
