Ximen Mining wins exploration permit for its Providence claim

Ximen Mining Corp (CVE:XIM) (OTCMKTS:XXMMF) has received an exploration permit for its Providence claim in British Columbia.

The claim consists of 190 hectares in the Greenwood Mining Camp and covers five past-producing mines for gold, silver, lead and zinc, according to a statement released Thursday.

It includes the namesake Providence mine, which produced 183 kilograms of gold, 42,552 kilograms of silver, 183 tons of lead and 118 tons of zinc in intermittent operations between 1893 and 1973. The mine itself contains 3,000 meters of underground workings serviced by a pair of shafts.

The claim also adjoins the Gold Drop property, which is currently being drilled by GCX Gold Corp (CVE:GGX).

Now, the company is able to conduct additional exploratory work on the property, including detailed rock sampling, trenching and diamond drilling. Its targets are gold-silver in quartz veins and copper-gold-silver skarn deposits.

In addition to what’s found in provincial records, Ximen said its crews identified other mineral showings. One such showing is a mine dump near the Providence mine, which produced a sample that returned a gold value of 2.87 grams per ton and a silver value of 127 grams per ton. 

Additionally, an undocumented exploration pit returned a sample with copper levels of 2,350 parts per million and silver levels of 3.4 parts per million.
