BioLargo's CupriDyne-based disinfectant kills the coronavirus in 10 minutes, study says

BioLargo Inc (OTCQB:BLGO) told investors Wednesday that its patented CupriDyne disinfectant was able to completely inactivate the SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, in just 10 minutes.

The results were achieved in a third-party study of a modified CupriDyne formula at the Galveston National Laboratory at the University of Texas Medical Branch, the company said.

BioLargo had previously announced that CupriDyne was capable of reducing SARS-CoV-2 titers by 99% after 30 minutes, with complete inactivation after an hour.

BilLargo plans to file for EPA registration for the new faster-acting formula ,which has yet to be named.

“We believe that the future is bright for our CupriDyne-based disinfectants,” CEO Dennis Calvert said. “We intend to apply for registration with the EPA once product designs are finalized.”

Achieving inactivation after 10 minutes is comparable to what you see with highly concentrated bleach.

“It is important to understand that we are achieving these extraordinary results at a significantly lower concentration than that of bleach in the same test protocol,” Calvert said.

“We have retained a leading EPA consulting firm to lead us in the EPA registration process and intend to move ahead as soon as possible. These products are a great addition to our expanding portfolio.”

BioLargo is an innovator of technology-based products and environmental engineering solutions including what the company says are “unique disruptive solutions” to deliver cleaner air, water and a “clean, safe environment”.
