Tectonic Metals identifies new gold anomalies at previously unexplored area of Tibbs project in Alaska

Tectonic Metals Inc (CVE:TECT) (OTCQB:TETOF) said Monday that recent exploration at its Tibbs gold project has identified new gold anomalies that bear striking similarities to a nearby gold operation in Alaska. 

Results from a summer 2020 soil sampling program pinpointed a number of drill-ready targets that share similar characteristics to the Pogo gold mine in the Goodpaster mining district, the firm said. 

The program also revealed multiple one-kilometre-long drill-ready targets that bear geochemical anomalies with gold-arsenic-bismuth-tungsten, gold-arsenic-antimony, and gold-arsenic signatures nearly identical to the mineralization seen at Pogo, according to Tectonic.

The Vancouver-based junior collected 1,153 samples during its summer 2020 program. Assay results showed gneiss-hosted gold-in-soil anomalies and multiple styles of mineralization in a zoned system.

The discovery of the gneiss-hosted soil anomalies in an area of the property that has not been previously explored opens the possibility of Pogo-like mineralization west of the currently known exploration targets, Tectonic told investors.

Tectonic CEO Tony Reda exalted the potential that exists at Tibbs.

“Our 2020 soil survey at Tibbs identified significant gneiss-hosted gold-in-soil anomalies in areas with low-angle faulting and shearing,” Reda said in a statement.

“These anomalies indicate mineralizing fluids traveled not only through the known high-angle structures within the intrusive rocks at Tibbs, but also through the gneissic rocks found in the western part of Tibbs. Low-angle thrust faults are mapped within these gneissic rocks and are now tied to increased gold-in-soil anomalism.”

Reda called it a “powerful new observation,” as gneissic rocks also host the Liese veins at Pogo, around 35 kilometres away.

“We again see potential for true, Pogo-style mineralization at Tibbs, and are excited to test these new targets,” the CEO added.

Tibbs hosts high-grade gold mineralization at surface, in trenches and in drilling, including a RAB drill intercept of 6 grams per ton gold over 29 metres at the Michigan prospect.
