As I blogged about the other day, I have been battling pneumonia since Thanksgiving.  I thought I had it licked.  On December 23rd, I finished my last oral antibiotic.  I even played golf with my son in law on the 30th. I didn’t play terribly but I didn’t play great.  That’s the most activity I had.  Most of the time I sat around.

On Saturday, I had a fever. That was weird.  I decided not to screw around and went back to urgent care.  Amazingly, my chest x-ray was exactly the same as it was on December 14th.

They told me not to pass go and do not collect $200.  I went directly to the hospital.

I have bacterial bi-lateral pneumonia.   I got it from wearing masks. Bacteria from my mouth got into my lungs.  Yes, I take care of my teeth. I couldn’t breathe with a mask on and did a lot of mouth breathing.  I was always sucking wind when I took it off.

Masks are bullshit, unless you are sick.  If that’s the case why are you roaming around?  Wear a mask if you want to virtue signal.  I laugh at people I see walking outside with a mask on.  Covid can’t survive outside and it only survives milliseconds in sunlight.   Lockdowns also are bullshit. When you are stuck inside, you are more likely to pass along or contract the virus from someone. States that have lockdown, and had mask mandates have higher incidences of Covid and higher deaths than states which do not.  They increase disease in the general public and have all kinds of other side effects like I am experiencing all in the name of stopping a disease that for the bulk of the population has a 99.97% survival rate.  If you are walking around wearing gloves, that doesn’t work either.  But, washing your hands does.

But, in our society, common sense isn’t a part of the mainstream anymore.

Did it occur to anyone that pro athletes aren’t dying when they get sick?  Coaches aren’t dying en masse?  No grocery store workers, big-box store workers are dying en masse.  Do you know who is? People over the age of 70.  But, they have to wait in line for a life-saving vaccine behind health care workers, politicians, their cronies, and prisoners.  For goodness sake, let’s save the politicians, their cronies, and the prisoners.  The reason we have been locked up for a year is the old people.

They have tested me over and over and over and over and over and over again for Covid.  You can tell everyone in the entire medical chain gets more money for Covid cases than regular cases.  Finally, I refused to take a Covid test since I was undefeated at testing negative. Instead, I asked them to do an antibody test.  Supposedly they did but we don’t have results yet.

I have never really been in a hospital before for myself.  Shoulder surgery in 1987.  Last time.  The other times, the birth of my kids or the death of a family member.  It’s not my bag.

My treatment is antibiotics administered via IV.  I have this thing in my arm which makes it better.  Everything in my body is fine, except for my o2 levels which I need to get back to normal.  I haven’t been on oxygen yet.  I am hoping not to go on oxygen, but I was in a room where they pumped it in like a casino.  I guess that’s why I was watching poker on tv.

From conversations with staff, most think that the whole PPE thing and Covid are way overboard.  They aren’t scared, but they are respectful.  That’s the proper attitude.  This hospital is pretty crowded but a lot of the patients are here for other things, not Covid.  Like me.

You are six times more likely to be killed in a homicide if you are under the age of 18 and live in the Chicago city limits than you are to die by Covid.

There is way too much fear porn on Covid.

If you know me, you know I like food.  Being stuck in a hospital isn’t conducive to great food.  I tried using GrubHub to deliver some, but frankly their mobile app is such a horrible experience I don’t think I will use it again.  That hurts because I am a Chicago-centric guy when it comes to tech and GrubHub was a star.  I used DoorDash, and they failed the first time but refunded the money.  Their app isn’t as buggy.

A buddy of mine said he had the same thing earlier this year.  He was in the hospital for a week.  I am hoping my stay is a lot shorter.  He’s doing fine now and he didn’t have Covid either.

I appreciate all the messages I am getting on different platforms and privately via email and text.  I’ll try to respond to them all because I firmly believe online is a two-way street.  It really bugs me when people use it like they would a megaphone.  Thanks for the prayers and your support.
