QC Copper and Gold reports rapid progress of drill program at Opemiska project

QC Copper and Gold Inc (CVE:QCCU) (OTCMKTS:QCCUF) reported rapid progress at its drill program at the Opemiska project in Quebec and said core is set to begin to be shipped to the lab this week. 

It is a 20,00 metre (m) program and, as of February 11, nine holes had been completed with 2,196m drilled. The work is progressing on a 24 hour-a-day, seven-days-a-week basis.

“Drilling progress is extremely fast and geology is as expected, with known veins appearing where predicted on our model and surrounded by haloes of lower grade mineralization,” said  Charles Beaudry, vice-president (VP) of exploration and director at the company.

“Additionally, new and previously unknown and unmined narrower veins are also present.  Holes are stopped where they intersect stopes, and are within a couple of metres of the expected locations within our model. This implies that our digitization and wire-framing are very accurate.”

The Opemiska property covers 12,782 hectares and includes the past-producing Springer, Perry, Robitaille and Cooke mines, owned and operated by Falconbridge.

QC said 75 of its drill holes will be between the Springer and Perry mines in a bid to delineate a near surface, in-pit resource.

The company added that technology is being used to obtain the 3D orientation of veins and fault structures, which will ultimately help to interpolate grades for the resource estimate once the drilling is completed.

It also highlighted that strict protocols for the drilling work had been implemented to prevent any outbreaks of coronavirus (Covid-19).
