Great Bear Resources Ltd (CVE:GBR) (OTCMKTS:GTBAF) (FRA:0G6A) announced the appointment of Gilbert Lawson to the company’s board of directors.
Lawson, the former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TMAC Resources Inc, has experience managing operations at both the Musselwhite and Campbell Mines, two of the largest gold mines in Ontario.
“Mr. Lawson began his career as an underground miner at the Dome mine in Ontario, and progressed through engineering and mine management positions to COO, working at many of North America’s leading operations,” Great Bear Resources CEO Chris Taylor said in a statement.

He added: “Mr. Lawson knows our rocks, knows our people, knows our neighbouring communities, and knows how to build and operate the kind of major project we believe Dixie has the potential to become. We’re very pleased to have him join our team and believe his expertise will be of enormous benefit to our shareholders.”
Gilbert Lawson also weighed in on the appointment, stating: “From my initial review of the Dixie data, there are clear similarities to some of the famous mines in this camp, yet at the same time, it has a uniqueness with no analogy in other Archean systems. It is rare to find a gold deposit with both predictable mineralization stretched over several kilometres, and with high grades with visible gold, which is a trademark of the camp.”
“I am looking forward to the commencement of the resource modeling and engineering studies to find the optimal mine design and help build a great project,” he continued.
The company noted that Lawson, who has detailed understanding of all stages of mine construction and operations, was also instrumental in establishing Wataynikaneyap Power, a First Nations-owned power transmission company that linked numerous First Nations communities and the Musselwhite mine in north western Ontario.
Great Bear’s flagship Dixie project comprises 9,140 hectares of contiguous claims that extend more than 22 kilometers (km). It sits about 25km southeast of the town of Red Lake, Ontario.
The property has played host to some eye-catching drill assays and multiple high-grade gold discoveries, namely at the Dixie Limb, Hinge, Bear-Rimini, Yuma, Auro, Yauro, Viggo and Gap zones. Six of these are now considered one zone that is hosted by the LP Fault zone, which is basically an 18km target that is being continuously explored by the company.
