Pacific Empire Minerals hires industry veteran Thomas Hawkins as its new vice president of Exploration

Pacific Empire Minerals Corp (CVE:PEMC) (OTCQB:PEMSF) has announced the appointment of Thomas Hawkins as the company’s new vice president of Exploration, effective immediately.

The company noted that Hawkins has 18 years of international experience identifying, assessing, and advancing mineral exploration projects, discovering the Vanadium Pass deposit in British Columbia in 2018 as president of Vanmin Development Corp.

“I am very pleased to welcome Thomas to our management team. His strong technical background and expertise in copper porphyry systems are invaluable, and we look forward to working together as we develop exploration targets and strategies at Jean Marie and across our portfolio of copper assets,” Pacific Empire Minerals CEO Brad Peters said in a statement.

Hawkins commented: “The opportunity to join the Pacific Empire Minerals Corp team is very exciting given the company’s ownership interest in a robust portfolio of copper-gold-silver projects in British Columba.”

Pacific Empire Minerals noted that Hawkins did his PhD research in further understanding the Central Asian deposit camps and Iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) type deposits.

As well, the company reported that it has granted incentive stock options to employees, directors, officers and consultants of Pacific Empire Minerals to acquire a total of 2.15 million company shares, at a price of $0.06 per share, for a period of three years.

Pacific Empire Minerals follows the prospect generator model and is focused on British Columbia. Its flagship project is the Jean Marie, a large copper property 50 kilometres (km) west of Centerra Gold’s Mt. Milligan copper-gold mine in central British Columbia.

In June 2020, the company expanded its footprint at Jean Marie having staked over 1,000 hectares of prospective mineral tenure, contiguous to and immediately east of the site. In all, the project now spans 7,355 hectares and boasts multiple mineralized zones open for expansion, along with several additional exploration targets.
