Brookside Energy mobilising drill rig for high-impact Jewell Well in SWISH AOI

Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK) (OTCMKTS:RDFEF) has started the large logistical task of mobilising a drill rig for the high-impact Jewell 13-12-1S3W SXH1 well in the SWISH Area of Interest (AOI) of Oklahoma’s world-class Anadarko Basin.

Mobilisation of Latshaw Drilling Rig 14 to the Jewell Well location in Carter County, Oklahoma, is expected to be completed early this week after which rig up and testing of equipment will begin.

A pre-spud meeting between the Black Mesa team and all contractors is scheduled for the morning of May 7, 2021, with spud to occur shortly after.

Large fleet

Mobilising of Rig 14 involves a large fleet of about 20 semi-trailer trucks and will require around 50 loads, including 15 ‘oversized’ loads to be moved over public roads.

The process was postponed for several days due to very heavy rainfall and lightning storms in the area.

This weather created safety concerns including poor traffic and road conditions and an unsafe rig-up environment, however, the Jewell Well all-weather drilling pad and access road were unaffected.

First in multi-well program

The Jewell Well will be the first company-operated well to be drilled and completed in the Jewell DSU in the SWISH AOI.

It will be the first well in a potential five-year, 20-plus well development drilling program across the three operated DSUs – Jewell, Flames and Rangers – that the company controls in the SWISH AOI.

This strategy is intended to develop a conservatively estimated 11,606,000 net BOE Prospective Resource (best estimate, unrisked).

“On cusp of spudding”

Managing director David Prentice said previously: “We are thrilled to be on the cusp of spudding this highly anticipated well, which has the potential to unlock enormous value for the company and set us on a path to hold all of our DSUs in the SWISH AOI by production.

“The Black Mesa and Latshaw drilling teams are working closely to safely and efficiently accelerate the drilling operations.

“We are looking forward to keeping our shareholders and the market updated as drilling progresses and we move through to completion operations and ultimately to the production of oil and gas from this well.”

Targeting Sycamore formation

The Jewell Well will target one of two primary producing formations in the SWISH AOI, the Sycamore formation, which continues to deliver strong sustained productivity in nearby offsetting wells.

To date, the Casillas Operating LLC operated Flash 1-8-5MXH well, around 3-miles west of the Jewell DSU, has produced approximately 500,000 BOE in about 15-months, considerably higher than Brookside’s conservative estimate for the Jewell Well.

Future wells in the Jewell DSU will also target the Woodford formation, which like Sycamore formation continues to deliver strong sustained productivity in nearby offsetting wells.
