Brookside Energy passes key milestone with Jewell Well in world-class Anadarko Basin spudded

Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK) (OTCMKTS:RDFEF) has passed a major milestone with Jewell Well in the SWISH Area of Interest (AOI) of Oklahoma’s world-class Anadarko Basin successfully spudded on the evening of May 8, 2021, by Latshaw Rig 14 after completion of rig-up and equipment testing.

Operations in the previous 24-hour period included laying out the drill-string, making up the bottom hole assembly (BHA), installing the measurement while drilling tool (MWD) and making up the drill bit. 

The well is currently drilling ahead in the vertical section.

The Jewell Well 

The high-impact Jewell 13-12-1S-3W SXH1 well will be the first company operated well to be drilled and completed in the Jewell DSU in Brookside’s SWISH AOI in the Anadarko Basin. 

Importantly, this well is the first well in a potential five-year, 20-plus well development drilling program across the three operated DSUs (Jewell, Flames, Rangers) that the company controls in the SWISH AOI to develop a conservatively estimated 11,606,000 net barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) prospective resource (best estimate, unrisked).

The Sycamore formation

The Jewell Well will target one of two primary producing formations in the SWISH AOI – the Sycamore formation. 

The Sycamore formation continues to deliver strong sustained productivity in nearby offsetting wells.

To date, the Casillas Operating, LLC. operated Flash 1-8-5MXH well (around 3-miles west of the Jewell DSU) has produced around 580,000 BOE in arbout 19-months – which is considerably higher than Brookside’s conservative estimate for the Jewell Well.

The Woodford formation

Future wells in the Jewell DSU will also target the Woodford formation, which also continues to deliver outstanding sustained productivity in nearby offsetting wells. 

To date, the Continental Resources Inc. operated Courbet 1-27-22XHW well (around 1-mile southwest of the Jewell DSU) has produced about 430,000 BOE in 14-months.

The production rate of the Courbet well is also considerably higher than BRK’s conservative estimate for the Jewell Well.
