Call of Duty developer Activision Blizzard confirms probe into sexual conduct misconduct allegations

Activision Blizzard, Inc. has confirmed that the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating allegations of sexual misconduct and discrimination.

The videogame developer, famous for Call of Duty and Candy Crush, said it is working with regulators “on addressing and resolving workplace complaints it has received” so it can become “one of the best, most inclusive places to work”.

It also hired a new “chief people officer” from entertainment group Disney.

Boss Bobby Kotick and other senior executives have been subpoenaed, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Activision Blizzard staff have reported discrimination against women and minorities, with California’s civil rights agency suing the company in July.

The group was accused of breaking the state’s civil rights and equal pay laws, with women facing sexual harassment, gender discrimination and a “frat boy” culture.

Just a month later, another lawsuit brought up by a shareholder alleged the firm had not disclosed investigations to investors and that workplace issues could cause legal problems.
