People often assume, quite understandably, that this blog’s name was inspired by typography. And while I am big on good lettering, the name actually comes from the phrase “typographical error,” as in a “typo,” or a mistake. In contrast to many of my friends and peers, I really enjoy writing, even if I’m not particularly good at it. Mistakes abound, but I don’t let that stop me. I enjoy messing around with words. I’m fond of a good pun or a clever play on words; intentional and sometimes otherwise. For example, I love it when people want to “flush out a good idea” or when they enjoy “being apart of” something. So I’m really hear for Homophones Visualized, a clever knew hardcover title from Chronicle Books, which explores words which sound the same, but are spelled differently, and mean different things. Author/artist Bruce Worden, self-professed “word nerd,” has made over 100 illustrations to highlight the difference between words like “band” and “banned.” He’s got homophones for daze, it’s a fun reed. You herd it first.
