Weird Food of the Week: The Food That Never Rots

Here’s a quiz for you.  What kind of food never rots?  If you don’t know, here are a few hints:

It’s sometimes used with bandages to treat cuts and burns.

It comes in many different flavors, including buckwheat, almond, avocado, macadamia nut, and pine. (Now you’re all confused, right?  Is it pancakes?  Wait – is it guacamole?)

The process of creating it involves puke.

Sometimes it’s crunchy, sometimes it’s not.

Babies shouldn’t eat it.

It has been discovered in ancient Egyptian pyramids, thousands of years old, just as edible as it was on the day it was made.  However, it can spoil if water gets in it.

You can get it from trees, but it’s not vegan.

Making this food involves a lot of labor, and the creators are famous for being very busy.

It’s pretty dangerous to collect it if you don’t know what you’re doing.  Ask Winnie-the-Pooh; he’ll tell you.

Okay, I think that last hint gave it away.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with Winnie-the-Pooh, the weird food of the week is honey.

Yes, that’s right.  There’s such a thing as avocado honey.  Don’t worry; it doesn’t taste like guacamole.
