One thing we love to do as a family is enjoy movie nights together. It’s one of the few pleasures we come together for, since the kids vary greatly in age, my oldest being 18 and the younger being 7 and 8 years old. They don’t have much in common with such a gap, and movies are something they can connect on. 

Another thing we absolutely love is music. I come from a very musical family, and grew up surrounded by musicians. Some of my favorite memories include going to gigs and band practices as a kid. I even performed a bit myself for a bit. 

When we got word from the folks at Lionsgate Entertainment that their hit movie, “Forever My Girl” was coming to Blu-Ray, we couldn’t wait to see it. This movie has everything, a love story, father daughter bonding, and life on the road as a professional musician. 

Oh, and ice cream. We received an amazing basket full of ice cream party fixins’ to help celebrate this Blu-Ray release. We decided to have an Ice Cream Sundae and Root Beer Float party on the deck, and then head inside for Movie Night to enjoy the film. Keep reading to check out pics from our little celebration. 

Forever My Girl tells the story of country music superstar Liam Page (Roe), who left his bride, Josie (Rothe), at the altar, choosing fame and fortune instead. However, Liam never got over his one true love, nor did he ever forget his Southern roots. When he unexpectedly returns to his hometown, Liam is torn between his two worlds.

OUR THOUGHTS:

We really enjoyed this film, young and old. The story is emotional and engaging, bringing back thoughts of first loves and bittersweet memories. Of course things don’t stay sad, as the couple reunites, and they learn how to live, laugh, and love as a family. There are bumps, tears, and heartache along the way, but those serve as lessons learned that just reinforce the importance of true love and family. 

The music in the movie is wonderful, and sure to please the country fans out there. It’s also very family friendly with no crude content, sex, nudity, etc. My 7 and 8 year olds were perfectly fine to see this. Overall, it’s a great choice for couples or for the entire family.
