"American Idol" Recap: Hooray for Hollywood!

Hooray for Hollywood, peeps! Now the competition has truly begun! I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time getting through the audition weeks after ten seasons. Especially this season when it was a combination of “American Freakshow” and “American Martyr,” it seemed like you were either odd, or if you were good, you were also sad. 

But last night, all that went away, and we finally got this party started in Hollywood. This season had a huge amount of people that made it, 324 to be exact, and there were some good times and there were some bad. Here are the highlights of last night’s episode. 

Who Made It

Chris Medina – the kid from Chicago with the fiance tragically injured in an accident did a solid job and got through to the next round. He’s going to go pretty far in this. Not because he has the greatest voice or anything, but there is such an undeniable likability about the kid. 

Paris Tassin, Adam Lambert’s Revenge: James Durbin, the couple that sing like they’re in love but they’re not, Rob Bolin and Chelsie Oaks, and the formerly bullied, Bret Lowenstern, also made the cut with decent performances. 2615  year old Jaycee Badeux came out seeming like the judge’s favorite of the night. Others making it through were the Guitierrez Brothers, White House intern Molly DeWolf; and super bionic Country Music wonder Scotty McCreery. Who doesn’t love a kid named Scotty, right?

Who Was Sent Home…

Annoying 17 year old Victoria Huggins was sent home, which was fine by me because she had shades of becoming this year’s Siobhan. 

Also, gag inducing, lovey dovey all for TV couple, Nick Fink and Jacqueline Dunford were split up with the judges picking Jacqueline to stay, and sending Nick home. Poor Nick. He got all teary and blubbery all over the place over losing this round and making it seem it was about being separated from his fake girlfriend. Barf. 

We also said, “Hasta La Vista” to our beloved singing accountant, Steve Beghun, that Miss Teen USA that shouldn’t have been there in the first place, had it not been for the newbie judges being all soft, and one of the audition martyrs, Tony Travis  Orlando.

So that was fun, I guess. You might want to lock up the cat and dog next week, because that’s the group auditions and we all know how horrid those are, and our animals begin howling to make the awful noises stop.
