WANTED: Your Feedback on the NIGHTMARRIAGE eBook Cover!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

I WANT YOUR HELP

Internationally renowned Kansas City-based artist Danny Joe Gibson has submitted his art for my Nightmarriage eBook, which is due from eLectio Publishing in the near future. Danny, the fine folks at eLectio, and I all want you to pick your favorite cover. Of course, I reserve the right to pick the one I like best. But I will factor your opinions into my final decision.

All About Nightmarriage

What is Nightmarriage, you ask? It’s a darkly comedic memoir about marriage and parenthood written by a pop culture junkie who has OCD and likes alliteration way too much. One of the essays from the book will surface via IMAGE Journal‘s blog mid-October, and my site will feature a free, downloadable MP3 audiobook version of that essay as well as another free, downloadable MP3 audiobook essay. An audiobook version of Nightmarriage will be available in its entirety shortly after the eBook version becomes available.

If you want to do me a favor, pre-order Nightmarriage here for $3.99, follow me on Twitter, and “Like” my author Facebook page. Also, follow me in Instagram: I am Chad_Thomas_Johnston.

All About Danny Joe Gibson

Regarding the artist behind the book’s visuals (of which there are many): Danny Joe Gibson’s work has been featured in over 15 books on illustration and design, including eBooks compiled and published by Emmy-winning writer, producer, and entrepreneur David E. Carter. Gibson’s art has appeared alongside works by design legends such as Milton Glaser, Paula Scher, Hatch Show Print, Art Chantry, and Stefan Sagmeister.

A year ago, Danny and I launched a publicity blitzkrieg in the Kansas City region and beyond in celebration of his ten years as a graphic designer operating under the name DJG Design. In conjunction with Danny’s 1,000 piece gallery show, Quietly Contributing: Poster Art of DJG Design, we were able to release a 35-song double album via NoiseTrade.com that featured original and exclusive songs by bands Danny designed album art and posters for, including Elevator Division, the Elms, Namelessnumberheadman, Lee Bozeman (of Luxury), and others. We appeared on Kansas City’s NPR affiliate, KCUR, were featured in The Pitch, INK magazine, NYC’s Felt & Wire, and numerous other publications. At the end of the year, The Pitch awarded us a KC “Best Of” honor for Best Scene Uniting Retrospective.

Listen to our NPR feature here. Read up on the event and download the album for free here. Listen to Jason Barr’s (former saxophonist for the Billions) A. D. D. Podcast interview with Danny here. Danny was featured in an article by David Hudnall in Vol. 31, Issue No. 9 of The Pitch, titled “Displaying Soul.” Read it here.

What I Want from You

In the comments box below the art, tell me which cover you like best and why. This is the first time I have ever seen Danny use digital distortion as the basis for his art. I look forward to your feedback!

Art Listed from Top to Bottom: #1: “Metallic Drips,” #2: “Blob Hair,” #3: “Angel Twirl”

With all due respect, those aren’t the greatest designs. Maybe you should try for a more professional design.
