Vaio Phone Biz With Windows 10 Mobile Launched

Microsoft’s best ever mobile operating system is now available on Vaio’s latest mobile offering, the Vaio Phone Biz (VPB0511S). Notably, the second smartphone from the Japanese giant, after Android Lollipop based Vaio Phone (VA-10j), is running Windows 10 Mobile out-of-the box.

Though switching from Android to Windows is a surprise move, Vaio Phone Biz looks like an ideal player to take on leading budget phones. The power-packed handset incorporates a tempting set of specs, and sports a sharp 5.5-inch full HD display with 401 pixels per inch. It endows a decent visual experience with rich colours, and powers up by an octa-core Snapdragon 617 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with 3GB RAM and 16GB of inbuilt memory. The storage option on the handset also include support for expandability up to 64GB via microSD card.

Along with top-notch hardware, Vaio Phone Biz features an exemplary camera setup as well. The main camera of the handset features a 13-megapixel sensor with flash, while the front-facing snapper incorporates a 5-megapixel sensor. Both give decent images in all environments, and are well-supported by a powerful 2800 mAh battery offering sufficient juice for continuous work and play.

The connectivity options packed with Vaio Phone Biz include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, 4G LTE, and micro-USB 2.0. It promises blazing download and upload speeds on 4G, and also supports Microsoft’s native Windows 10 feature, Continuum for creating a complete on-the-go PC experience. Once the phone is connected to Microsoft display dock, this feature transforms any TV, monitor, or big-screen into a full-fledged Windows 10 PC.

Vaio Phone Biz has been launched in Silver colour avatar, and will be hitting the shelves in Japan starting from April 2016. The price of handset has been kept at $430 (approximately Rs. 29,000 in Indian currency), but as of now, there is no word when we’ll be seeing Vaio in the Indian markets. If launched, the phone will be competing against the likes of OnePlus, Lenovo and other mid-range players. But, that’s the bigger picture! For now, switching towards Windows 10 Mobile, when it is already lagging behind Android and iOS, is a very a bold move from the Japanese tech conglomerate. Looks like, there’s more to come in the coming months.
