When Was it Released?

The CANON EOS 90D was released on the 12th September 2019. The successor to the 80D holds both a lot of hope and promise. The full-featured DSLR camera appeals to the end-user by making the camera comfortable to hold should you be holding it for a prolonged length of time. Not only that but it’s also extremely affordable ranging between £959 and £1,200 on both retail and auction sites online. Although it has a lot to live up to – the 80D was one of the most popular DSLR cameras amongst Canon enthusiasts.

What’s New?

Right off the bat, it’s important to note that the 90D includes many more pixels than its predecessor, the 80D. On top of that – thanks to the latest innovation from Canon – the imaging engine – it also means that this updated version is a lot faster. It’s price point also means it appeals both to the professional photographer as well as beginners wanting a decent DLSR camera but they are not wanting to break the bank at the same time.

The standout feature of the Canon 90D as we’ve touched upon already in the image processor, the Disic 8. This nifty bit of innovation means the user can shoot 4K video uncropped. Although it doesn’t’ just stop there, this new processor also delivers both an increased burst speed as well as a native ISO range. If you’re ever confused about how to work the new Canon 90D, it comes with a handy manual full of everything you need to know, and that also includes a host of information about neat tricks. The 90D is also tech-savvy with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity which means after you’ve taken that perfect picture it can be instantly be downloaded and shared online.

However, if that’s not your cup of tea it also has a USB Type-C connectivity meaning you can plug the 90D into your PC or laptop and instantly drag and drop your files on to your desktop. The 2.0 standard means that it’s going to be more universally matched.

Should You Get the 90D?

Just going off value alone, the Canon 90D is an absolute steal. As we’ve touched upon already, it’s price point makes it perfect whether you’re a veteran in the photography game or whether you’re a beginner just starting but you want something that can capture some quality shots. It’s also worth noting that the Canon 90D uses the same battery found in some of the other DLSR cameras, the LP-E6N. If you don’t know already it comes with a CIP Certification of 1,300 shots when you’re using the viewfinder. However, if you’re using the rear display this will be 450 shots.
