United States Tells North Korea That We Are ‘Ready To Go To War’ To Stop Your Nuclear Missile Program

U.S. military officials said North Korea’s latest weapons test featured a new type of missile fired from a mobile launch site, two factors propelling the view in Washington that the isolated country’s nuclear-weapons program is a growing threat.

EDITOR’S NOTE: After the latest missile test in North Korea, governments around the globe are demanding that action be taken to rein in the rogue nation. While sanctions hurt, they can not and will not stop North Korea from advancing their missile program which is getting increasingly more powerful and sophisticated. Because Obama did nothing to slow down North Korea for 8 years, this is yet another mess that needs to be cleaned up by President Trump. Something tells me that not only will the president clean it up, he’s going to enjoy every minute of it.

The U.S. warned North Korea that it is ready to fight if provoked, as U.S. officials said they had concluded that North Korea for the first time had launched an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching Alaska.

The test prompted an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday, which ended in a standoff between the U.S. and Russia after U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley warned diplomats that “time is short” and that all countries must pressure North Korea, including through new sanctions, to change course.

She said she discussed U.S. options with President Donald Trump and that military action hadn’t been ruled out.

Gen. Vincent Brooks, the top American military commander in South Korea, said earlier Wednesday that the U.S. and South Korea were prepared to go to war with the North if given the order.

“Self restraint, which is a choice, is all that separates armistice and war,” Gen. Brooks said. “We are able to change our choice when so ordered.…It would be a grave mistake for anyone to believe anything to the contrary.”

U.S. officials for years have said an attack on North Korea would have devastating results in the form of a counterattack on South Korea and possibly Japan.

Pentagon officials, briefing reporters on Tuesday’s launch, described the potential weapon as a new kind of missile with which U.S. officials aren’t familiar. The two-stage missile was launched from a location known as the Banghyon Aircraft Plant, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of Pyongyang, said Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman.

The missile landed after a 37-minute flight inside the busy commercial area off the coast of Japan used by commercial ships and fishing vessels. source
