People Flee Their Homes After Massive 6.8 Earthquake In Eastern Turkey, Felt As Far Away As Israel, Leaves 18+ Dead With Over 300 Injured

A 6.8-magnitude earthquake rocked a sparsely-populated part of eastern Turkey on Friday, killing at least 18 people, injuring more than 500 and leaving some 30 trapped in the wreckage of toppled buildings, Turkish officials said.

Eastern Turkey is reeling tonight after a devastating 6.8 earthquake hit outside of the capital city of Ankara, and was felt as far away as Israel, news reports said. Funny how everything in the Middle East is always related some how and in some way to Israel, isn’t it? Fun fact, the word ‘earthquakes’ appears only 3 times in your King James Bible, and it all refers to events that will be happening during the time of Jacob’s trouble. We won’t be in the time of Jacob’s trouble, but I thought it was a fun fact anyway.

It’s also fun to look at the 16 places in your King James Bible where the word ‘earthquake‘, singular, appears. In nearly every place the word ‘earthquake’ shows up, it is directly connected to something the Lord is bringing to pass, and mostly in the end times. It would appear after reading them that God uses earthquakes as one of the tools in His arsenal.

“Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?” Job 38:22,23 (KJB)

Speaking of that, did you know that the weather, the same ‘weather’ that everyone makes small talk about, is part of the Lord’s end times military arsenal? It is. Funny how that dusty, old, archaic King James Bible is still ahead of everyone else. Pray for the people of Turkey hit so hard by this earthquake, and pray that the gospel will get in there with relief efforts, too.

Powerful quake rocks eastern Turkey, killing 18; tremors felt in Israel

FROM DAILY MAIL UK: An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 rocked eastern Turkey on Friday, causing some buildings to collapse, killing at least 14 people, injuring more than 300 and leaving several trapped, Turkish officials said. The epicentre of the quake, which struck at 1755 GMT, was in Elazig province, about 340 miles east of the capital, Ankara.

The quake was felt as far away as Israel, where residents in Petah Tikva, Holon, Yavne and Beersheba reported feeling the temblor. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage in Israel. Governor Cetin Oktay Kaldirim told NTV television that three people died in the province. State-run Anadolu Agency quoted Gov. Aydin Barus as saying five other people died in his nearby Malatya province. At least 225 people were injured in Elazig and 90 in Malatya.

Earlier, Soylu told NTV television that rescuers were trying to reach survivors after a four- or five-story building collapsed in the town of Maden in Elazig.  Around four or five buildings collapsed in Sivrice, where two people were hurt, he said.

‘We are hoping we will not have more casualties,’ he was quoted as saying by the official Anadolu news agency. Turkish television showed images of people stuck in apartments rushing outside in panic, as well as a fire on the roof of one building.

‘It was very scary, furniture fell on top of us. We rushed outside,’ 47-year-old Melahat Can, who lives in the city of Elazig, said. ‘We will spend the coming days in a farmhouse outside the city,’ she said.

‘Sivrice was shaken very seriously, we have directed our rescue teams to the region,’ he told reporters, adding that there were reports of some collapsed buildings in the region. Soylu was at a meeting on earthquake preparedness when the quake struck.

The tremor was felt in several parts of eastern Turkey including Tunceli, the Turkish broadcaster NTV reported, adding that neighbouring cities had mobilised rescue teams for the quake area.    It was followed by several aftershocks, the strongest with magnitudes 5.4 and 5.1. The US Geological Survey assessed the quake’s magnitude at 6.7, and said it struck at a depth of about six miles. READ MORE
