President Donald Trump unleashed his fury against those who tried to impeach him at a prayer breakfast Thursday, a day after his acquittal by the Senate.

What a difference a day makes. After three years of relentless and scurrilous attacks from the Democrats against President Donald Trump, the Senate voted yesterday to fully acquit him of any and all charges, and just like that, Trump has solidified his power base to a degree unimaginable a week ago. Today at the annual National Prayer Breakfast, President Donald Trump unleashed with both barrels.

“Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time? Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?” Luke 12:56,57 (KJB)

Nancy Pelosi, who put all her eggs in one basket with impeachment, has repeatedly said she “prays for the president all the time“, yet attacks him without cause and ripped up the copy of the speech he handed her. Mitt Romney said that it was his hardcore belief in his Mormon religion that caused him to betray the Republican Party and side with the people seeking to take down the president. Two excellent examples of using your religion to justify your evil actions.

So I am glad that President Donald Trump used the National Prayer Breakfast to point out these glaring hypocrisies, it was the perfect venue in which to do that. And speaking of prayer, Romney, Pelosi, and all the other Democratic minions better start doing a lot of it because Trump is going to make sure that they will pay a price for their evil deeds. The best revenge of all, as I see it, is a landslide victory in November. He had my vote before all this, and he absolutely has it now.

FROM THE AP: “As everybody knows, my family, our great country and your president have been put through a terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people,” Trump said at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. He spoke from a stage where he was joined by congressional leaders, including Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who led the impeachment charge against him.

“They have done everything possible to destroy us and by so doing very badly hurt our nation,” said Trump, who triumphantly held up copies of two newspapers with huge “ACQUITTED!” headlines as he took the stage.

It was a whiplash message in contrast to the speakers who came before him, including keynote speaker and Harvard professor Arthur Brooks, who had described a “crisis of contempt and polarization” in the nation and urged those gathered to ”love your enemies.”

“I don’t know if I agree with you,” Trump said, and then he proceeded to demonstrate it.

“I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong,” he said in an apparent reference to Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, a longtime Trump critic who was the only Republican to vote for Trump’s removal. “Nor do I like people who say ‘I pray for you’ when you know that is not so,’” he said, in a reference to Pelosi.

His comments, including his usual campaign litany of economic boasting, was a clear sign that the post-impeachment Trump is emboldened like never before as he barrels ahead in his reelection fight with a united Republican Party behind him.

Republican senators voted largely in lockstep to acquit Trump on Wednesday, relying on a multitude of rationales for keeping him in office: He’s guilty, but his conduct wasn’t impeachable; his July telephone conversation with Ukraine’s president was a “perfect call”; there’s an election in 10 months and it’s up to voters to determine his fate. For President Donald Trump, there was one overriding message to draw from his acquittal: Even at a time of maximum political peril, it’s his Republican Party. Trump avoided talk of impeachment in his State of the Union address on Tuesday night. By the next day, he was already moving to use impeachment as a 2020 rallying cry.

President Donald Trump tweeted after the Senate vote that he would mark his acquittal with a statement at noon Thursday to “discuss our Country’s VICTORY on the Impeachment Hoax!” The president’s supporters were being invited to join him in the East Room.

Democrats handed some more good news to Trump. The Iowa caucuses, the nation’s first presidential nominating contest, was thrown into disarray by a tabulating mishap. That deprived any candidate of a clear victory and allowed Trump to paint the Democrats as incompetent and corrupt.

Trump’s tenuous relationship with the GOP establishment has been a consistent theme of his political life in recent years, and he has repeatedly put the party’s values to the test.
