Maybe alot is being brought out of the ground but seriously, do you think the governments of the Earth who regularly purchase “TONS” of gold just to sell it as coins are going to allow you “regular” peasants to use it as money? Our so-called constitution was an experiment- or don’t you remember that’s what the Founders called it?The U.S. government outlawed the private possession of gold in 1933-You don’t think they can do it again? Well, think about if the government has done anything outrageous lately that the constitution might disagree with……… how about putting all 300,000,000 of us into DEPRESSION by printing almost $5,000,000,000,000 (trillion) in worthless paper that will soon destroy everyones bank accounts, 401-K’s and employment ! Billionaires buy up tons of gold which runs up the price then they sell it the next day which nets millions if not more! Then after they make the price go back down by selling tons they turn around and buy it back at the lower price ???? It’s the oldest game in the market. All these idiots who sell gold on this website are taking your money and you will probably never see real results unless your in the same business they are in ! Commodities are the only good bet in this world now. Groceries, solar power, farming and self sufficency will be the new market winners in the near future. The U.S. generates $14,000,000,000,000.(trillion) a year(GDP), not to mention all the other countries around the world. How is $7,000,000,000,000. worth of gold gonna be used as money? The Credit Debt of the Major players in the world is estimated to be $53,000,000,000,000. That means that along with the U.S.A. , Europe and probably many of the 3d world nations our borrowed combined debt is 7 times the amount of ALL the gold in the world ! I agree with the author. The only thing that makes gold valuable is if people agree it has value – otherwise it’s nothing more than a yellow rock that’s worth nothing except maybe as a doorstop.
So if the gold price was 20 times what it is now there would be enough to use as currency

Sure our govt has gone rogue. Thats what fiat currencies enable. However govts do lose support and consent, and the free market has consistently chosen gold as a medium of exchange repeatedly in the blessed absence of coercion and legal tender laws.
If they must force us to use their currency, doesnt that suggest if we were free to choose, their currency wouldnt be our choice.
I highly suggest the author read “whats govt done to our money” murray rothbard. I suggest this because his arguement isnt consistent and can be made whole by more understanding. Certainly commodities are smart, gold being the smartest. If you disagree then more learning is in order.

Gold has been around since the the times of Jesus Christ. It can never rust. To obtain it takes labor which in turn is worth something.If people can accept worthless pieces of paper as currency i am sure they will come around (again) and accept a currency that has intrinsic value. As far as government restricting our gold it will never happen. Less than 1% of the population own it and to try and confiscate it would be a waste of time and resources. The central banks of the world have begun to buy it. All commodities are good and guess what Gold is a commodity as well as the other tangibles the author mentioned. A medium of exchange will always be needed. Gold and silver are the only currency that will hold their value in this coming economic crisis.
