The False Ego & the Silver Market

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The false ego permeates western culture perhaps more totally than any other facet of our civilization. Generally arisen from fear and anxiety, the false ego gives rise to strawmen which distract from our pure feelings, thoughts and ideas. They are like excuses for not dealing with reality.  The strawmen generally are supported by institutions such as the church, state, law and false commerce.  These false belief systems stick us within a society encompassed by, but divorced from, our true nature, our nature of humanity. Even the most human of phenomenon can become tainted by this society, and this taint then steals us from ourselves. The false ego & the silver market have had a correlated history, especially in the last decade.

The silver market is no different. The domination of the false ego (fear/anxiety) is crystal clear in the market itself, with the majority of individuals purchasing silver bullion in particular on a fear trade associated with dollar devaluation and eventual collapse.  It is intimidating, buying silver for these reasons, and can quickly ascend one into an addiction for silver bullion, leaving them strapped for cash due to the unreasonable pattern of their buying.

One way of envisaging the false ego is like so: There are two dogs in our hearts. One is the reprise of our life experience or our pure personality, and one is our fears, anxieties and distractions. Both dogs are barking for our attention, and whichever one we favor becomes the dominant one in our lives. A Cherokee proverb reads as such:

There is a battle of two wolves inside us all.
One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, lies, inferiority, and ego.
The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, and truth.
The wolf that wins? The one you feed.

Our false ego, in the silver market, is disguised as our best friend, telling us that it is here to help us avoid a bitter end to the world. In reality, it is a fear that embeds itself deeper with every price run. It distracts us from those things outside of the economic realm and keeps us from knowing ourselves. The false ego of the silver market convinces us that we are so important and ties this importance to our accumulation of silver bullion investments.  We become envious of people with bigger stashes. We become prideful over our own stash and it becomes a false extension of our soul. We are prone to outbursts of greed targeted at our loved ones and communities whom we perceive to be getting in the way of our silver investments.

Thus, our silver false ego makes us suffer. It contributes to our paranoia and it contributes to our anxiety.  This is antithetical to being and thus survival. So, in the midst of trying to ensure our survival by accumulating silver and precious metals, we actually ensure our lack of being.

Vedic scholar Bhurijana Dasa explains:

The false ego … which is like a reflection of our true consciousness within matter, is the covering over the soul first supplied by material nature and is the juncture between our spiritual identity and our material existence. Any ego-identity in which we imagine ourselves the central figure is acceptable to our perverse consciousness.

The divide between our false ego and our real ego represents the split between our selfish nature and our selfless nature, not only materially but also spiritually.  One example of the size of one’s false silver ego is this: How much pleasure do you derive from knowing that you have more silver bullion than others? Do you hold compassion or contempt? Do you wish to impart helpful knowledge unto them, if they are open to it? What if they have more silver bullion ? Are you jealous?

To be a silver investor  defined by the self, and not the false ego, is to be a silver investor not obsessed with prices, accumulation and economic collapse. Silver is surely perhaps the best store of value, but life is not meant to be a rat race to buy silver. Instead, a well-rounded and naturalistic understanding of the silver market, in which accumulation is not the means to an end, but rather part of a program of personal self-improvement, is the focus will help one become less attached to his or her false silver ego. We must not become absorbed in “$1,200″ silver or “$10,000″ gold, because by doing so we are thus become attached to dollar collapse. It is a fear based episteme. Silver can help us find dimension for our lives.

We will continue to feed the barking dog’s inside our hearts and minds. But will it be the dog representing our true self or the false ego leading us to become obsessed with a precious metal that controls us in the end? Our investment story does not need to begin and end with bullion – that is far from the truth. There is a long and storied history of silver jewelry, candle sticks, platters, pitchers and cups which have a silver content, but can connect us with the art of our many human cultures. These are not fear-based trades, as is bullion. Instead, they represent a well-rounded option celebrating our human, and not economic,  legacy. Economic society throughout the history has dwelled in society, that force which has obscured humanity. That’s why becoming wrapped up in silver as an economic hedge against the destruction of this system is a false avenue.  It’s like atheism. Atheism is an inapt term because it explains what a person is not, and what the person is. It is much more positive to believe in naturalism, because that is telling what a person believes in. Similarly, why claim that you are  buying silver to run away from a condition? Instead, say that you buy it to create an entirely new condition, in line with your true self.
