The Other Silver War Pt. 2: The Lowdown on Silver Toxicity

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

This article is in response to comments in questions in my first article: The Other Silver War.

The first article is proposed as fodder for those with an introductory knowledge of the biochemistry of silver in our bodies (as a result of being ingested) i.e., colloidal silver.  In my follow-up I will try to be more comprehensive.

In response to whether it is better to use silver on food than it is to use pestisides, I have more questions than answers.  Is it being used to replace said pesticides or in conjunction?  If in conjunction then no, it is not safer.  It is more dangerous.

But the real question here isn’t only whether it’s safe (which, it’s not, practically or in theory).  This is also a simple matter of consent and my supposed right to choose as a consumer.

As someone who uses alternative medicine techniques and has used colloidal silver on myself for a few colds, I fully embrace and recognize the merit in homeopathic science.  I’ve seem some lives completely turned around using homeopathic medicine.

I have met wonderful people in the field whose patients are their testimony, including a Ph.D in nutritional biochemistry who studies the way what we ingest affects us on a cellular level.  He recommends colloidal silver to his patients for colds.

There is support from traditional and alternative science for colloidal silver having anti-bacterial attributes.

Multiple mainstream studies into the use of colloidal silver in medicine conclude silver nano particles effectively penetrates bacteria cells at 10nm diameter.

So is this really just another “public relations” fraud?

We have already seen story after story about how silver is in the environment at dangerous levels.  Everyone who remembers the “blue man” fraud knows not to try making their own batch of colloidal silver in their home kitchens unless they really know what they’re doing.

Silver Toxicity:

Argyria is a rare condition caused by consuming improperly-made silver solutions that contain too many silver particles that are too large in size, and that were made using the addition of salt.

Determining factors going into whether a batch of colloidal silver is “safe” [2] are how many silver particles are concentrated, how big those particles are, and what they were prepared with.

The recommended dose of nano-sized whole silver products is 30 parts per million so as not to be at risk for Argyria.  This is not accounting for other risks associated with silver toxicity. [3][4]

The ideal range for silver nanoparticles to be antibacterial is between 5- 10nm in diameter. [5]  Any less than 5nm in diameter results in the nanoparticles penetrating beneficial bacteria.

According to Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, the nanoparticles found in the pears are between 20 and 70 nm in diameter. This is 2-7 times the dosage effective to be antibacterial so… what are they using the silver for?…

And now let’s entertain a hypothetical argument.  Even if the silver was showing up in therapeutic range, let’s assess the risk of constantly ingesting silver colloids in context of the ever increasing antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria.

Experts in the medical field are on the brink of a crisis with the effective antibiotics at the onset of extinction.

Would the same behavior persist in bacterias that we carry around by silver nano particles always being present in our food and, therefore, us and the bacteria we carry?

Or what if the problem is worse and upon us with particles between 20-70nm in diameter.  Too big to penetrate the bacteria cell but just small enough to trigger a protective response?

These questions are important as the medical industry faces another challenge in finding effective treatments for disease.  If that’s even the plan.

To tie all of this together I would like to conclude on this thought:

Colloidal silver is a remedy, not a vitamin.  With that in mind, foods contain naturally occurring vitamins that protect against bacteria and disease , not manmade remedies.  Right?

We can ascertain that if silver is getting itself all over the outside of  pears, because it doesn’t have legs, it is being put there by some outside intent, be it human or otherwise.  The likelihood that this silver is reaching other food sources is an understandable concern.

I don’t recall the Journal including any data about how many parts per million of water silver nanoparticles were found on the pears but I may have missed it.

That’s pretty significant because even if the pears were only sprayed with a safe dosage of 20 parts per million, eating two pears a day would put you at risk for argyria, some sources say.

Imagine if the silver particles are getting there by chemtrails, as some commenters have mentioned.  Well then that’s a matter of it even being out of the hands of big agriculture to the military complex, right?  I’d like to see the lobbyists soap boxing to those guys at whatever soiree in  D.C.

I would like to reserve my right to determine when I am in need of a remedy and supplement accordingly.

[1] The “blue man” is a man who received media attention for his condition of Argyria.  Read more about the blue man at NaturalNews.com, who are, in fact, sympathizers with colloidal silver and one of the sources that I use for this response.

[2] The FDA has never recognized colloidal silver as safe for human consumption and mainstream science describes it as a toxin.

[3] According to mainstream science.

[4] The office that my Ph.D acquaintence practices out of sells a colloidal silver product with 500 parts per million.

[5] The bottle from the alternative medicine clinic has .001 microns, or 1 nm in diameter silver nanoparticles.
