Abitibi Metals Corp. (AMQ:CSE ; AMQFF:OTCMKTS; FW0:FRA) discovered a new zinc-silver VMS zone at its B26 project in Quebec, expanding exploration potential as drilling continues.

Precious metals investors have taken note of Abitibi Metals Corp.’s (AMQ:CSE ; AMQFF:OTCMKTS; FW0:FRA) newest exploration results.

Key Takeaways

  • Abitibi Metals identified a new potential volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) zinc-silver discovery 1.5 kilometers (km) west of the B26 Deposit at its 100%-owned B26 Project in Québec.
  • Drill hole 1274-26-383 intersected 14.25 meters (m) grading 1.13% zinc (Zn) and 51.51 grams per tonne (g/t) silver (Ag), including 3.10 m grading 2.82% Zn and 120.64 g/t Ag.
  • The new zinc-silver mineralization shares geological characteristics with the B26 Deposit and may represent the edge of a new copper-gold-rich VMS system.
  • A second regional target returned high-grade precious metals, including 332 g/t Ag and 0.83 g/t gold (Au) over 1.0 m.
  • Only three of seven priority regional targets have been drilled, with mineralization remaining open in all directions and follow-up drilling and geophysical surveys planned.
  • Abitibi resumed drilling after a temporary wildfire suspension and now owns 100% of the B26 project following its acquisition of SOQUEM Inc.’s remaining interest.

Drill Results Identify Zinc-Silver Mineralization West of B26

On July 29, 2026, Abitibi Metals Corp. announced regional exploration results from its 100%-owned B26 polymetallic project in Québec, Canada, including the discovery of a new potential volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) zinc-silver mineralized zone approximately 1.5 km west of the B26 Deposit. The company reported that its first regional exploration program identified a mineralized system with geological characteristics similar to its B26 deposit, highlighting the property’s broader discovery potential.

According to the press release, results include:

  • Hole 1274-26-383, drilled 1.5 km west of the B26 Deposit, intersected 14.25 m grading 1.13% Zn and 51.51 grams per tonne (g/t) Ag (0.74% copper equivalent (CuEq)), including 3.10 m grading 2.82% Zn and 120.64 g/t Ag (1.73% CuEq) and 3.50 m grading 1.61% Zn and 82.49 g/t Ag (1.18% CuEq). The mineralization is interpreted as the possible edge of a new B26-style VMS system.
  • The same drill hole also intersected a copper-rich interval grading 0.55% copper (Cu) over 0.60 m, displaying the same metal zoning seen at the B26 deposit and supporting the potential for a nearby copper-gold-rich core.
  • Hole 1274-26-385, drilled along a separate regional trend approximately 4.5 km north of the B26 deposit, returned 332 g/t Ag and 0.83 g/t Au over 1.0 m within a broader polymetallic interval, demonstrating additional precious metals potential across the property.
  • Only three of seven priority regional exploration targets have been tested to date. Mineralization remains open in all directions, with downhole Pulse EM surveys and follow-up drilling planned to further define the new targets.
  • Drilling has resumed following a temporary wildfire-related suspension, and the company recently acquired 100% ownership of the B26 Project after exercising its option to purchase SOQUEM’s remaining interest.

“We are highly encouraged by these initial regional exploration results at B26,” said Jonathon Deluce, CEO of Abitibi Metals. “Hole 1274-26-383 confirms a zinc-silver system hosted in the same felsic volcanic package as the B26 deposit, and we are increasingly seeing evidence that this is part of a broader cluster of mineralized systems, which we intend to keep testing.”

Deluce then said: “Given this setting, the potential for new lenses comes as no surprise, and these results support our conviction that we are at the early stages of building a world-class VMS camp. While expanding the B26 deposit remains our primary objective, discoveries like this, returned from just 400 m vertical depth, demonstrate our ability to create meaningful long-term value for our shareholders. This progress also reflects the strength of our exploration team, which is really starting to grow and come together, and its growing ability to add value across the property.”

Abitibi Metals is an exploration company that owns 100% of the B26 project in Québec’s Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The company’s 2026 regional exploration program tested only a portion of the property’s high-priority targets, with follow-up drilling planned for winter 2027 to evaluate the newly identified mineralized systems.

Zinc and Silver Demand Support Exploration Interest

As of August 4, 2026, zinc was trading at US$3,666 per tonne, which marks its highest level since 2022. Its industrial use in galvanizing steel to prevent rust, serving as a core component in batteries, and creating metal alloys has made it crucial to industry. Trading Economics reported that domestic production of the metal is becoming more and more crucial, as “. . . production adjustments at a zinc mine in Southwest China are expected to reduce zinc concentrate output by around 1,000 tonnes in August, while scheduled maintenance at a major smelter in Central China could cut production by 1,000-1,500 tonnes.”

Silver is up 2.84% over yesterday and trading at US$62.25 per ounce as of August 5, 2026. Higher demand from electric cars, solar panels, data centers, and more is shoring up silver’s future demand. Yahoo Finance quoted experts from both BlackRock and J.P. Morgan as saying, “By the end of 2026, experts predict silver’s price will surpass US$80 per ounce, and it could reach US$100 per ounce by 2030.”

The metals sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has predicted that overall global metals prices will rise by 17% in 2026, which would mark the first overall market increase since 2022.

Analyst Sees Potential Long-Term Upside Despite High Risk

Pierre Vaillancourt of Haywood Capital Markets discussed the new drill results on July 29, 2026, writing: “Overall, these drill results, while inconclusive, provide some encouragement to demonstrate the property’s regional potential. Targets to the northwest may be related to mineralization at the Selbaie mine, while targets on strike to the west of the B26 deposit, in particular hole 1274-26-383, point to a mineralized lens that is geologically related to, but distinct from the B26 deposit.”‘

Vaillancourt maintained a “Buy” rating, with a price target of CA$1.50. However, the report calls the stock “Very High Risk”, stating: “These drill results are variable but provide an indication of mineralization beyond B26. Given the early-stage nature of drilling, we do not expect much of a market reaction to these results; however, there is plenty of work to do, with potential to identify stronger mineralization in the system.”

A Catalyst-Packed Future Ahead

According to Abitibi Metals’ investor presentation, the company expects to continue resource expansion and conversion through the rest of 2026 and all of 2027, with a bout of regional exploration in early 2027. Technical studies will also go on during Q1 and Q2 2027.

With a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) scheduled to be completed by the end of Q1 2027, a feasibility study projected to be completed by the end of Q4 2027, and continuous metallurgical testing throughout this year, the company’s near- and long-term catalysts are packed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit?
A: A volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit is a type of mineral deposit formed by hot, metal-rich fluids released on or below the seafloor by volcanic activity. VMS deposits often contain copper, zinc, lead, silver, and gold, making them important sources of multiple metals.

Q: What is copper equivalent (CuEq)?
A: Copper equivalent (CuEq) is a way of expressing the combined value of multiple metals in a drill intercept as a single copper grade. It allows investors to compare polymetallic drill results more easily by converting the estimated value of metals such as zinc, silver, and gold into an equivalent copper grade using assumed metal prices and recoveries.

Q: What does it mean when mineralization is “open”?
A: When geologists say mineralization is “open,” they mean drilling has not yet identified the boundaries of the mineralized system in one or more directions. Additional drilling may expand the known deposit, although there is no guarantee it will.

Q: What is a downhole electromagnetic (EM) survey?
A: A downhole electromagnetic (EM) survey is a geophysical technique performed after a drill hole is completed. It uses electromagnetic signals to detect conductive rocks or mineralization that may lie beyond the drill hole, helping geologists identify additional exploration targets.

Q: What is a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA)?
A: A Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) is an early-stage study that evaluates the potential economic viability of a mineral project. It combines geological, engineering, processing, and cost estimates to determine whether a project may warrant more detailed technical studies.
