10 Beautiful Examples of Eco- Art
It never ceases to amaze me how so many artists can take items destined to become landfill fodder and turn them into something utterly beautiful. As the old saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Here I have selected ten examples of some of the most attractive eco-art I’ve stumbled upon online.
1.) Bright butterfly.-This gorgeous yellow butterfly and others like it are created using old license plates, mirrors, trash can lids, and car parts basically whatever found objects are at hand. For a closer look at the finer details of these large moth art pieces (and a perspective on how large they really are!) check out this post about artist Michelle Stitzlein in the Eco Artware Notes blog.
2.) Treasure Furniture.-Using scraps from a furniture factory, artist Maarten Baas of Holland makes stunning modern pieces of furniture. Take a closer look at some of the eclectic pieces he’s put together here under “Works” and “Treasure Furniture.”
3.) Colorful faces- Artist Sandhi Schimmel uses brightly colored print ads to make art featuring women’s faces.
4.) “Scribbled” chairs-If you could take a crayon and messily scribble a chair into thin air, it would probably come out looking something like this. The super cool chairs are made out of old plastic.
5.) Rainbow lighting- Plastic is put to good use once more with this rainbow lighting using various colorful plastic containers, the concept of artist David Batchelor. I had to look twice before I realized trash was involved. Here’s another look at how stunning this trash art really is.
6.) Technicolor celebrities-If Andy Warhol made art today using junk, his pieces might look a little something like this. Featured are pieces of art depicting Conan O’Brian and Lady Gaga using old tech junk.
7.) Art in sneaker form- These shoes by Gabriel Dishaw really are works of art and made out of pure junk. See more of his work here.
8.) Organic shapes-These massive pieces of artwork fashioned out of construction scrap wood are simply breathtaking.
9.) Trashy wave-One of my favorite pieces of art is Hokusai’s “The Great Wave.” Imagine how thrilled I was to find the stunning wave composed in trash art by artist Bernard Pras.
10.) Wild horses-Using found objects such as plastic toys and various old utensils artist Sayaka Ganz made these stunning horses that appear to be bursting forth through a wall in spirit form.
