Get creative this Halloween!

It’s that time of year again! Pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and costume stores. There’s plenty of stores around, not to mention online retailers, but get a little creative with your search!

Goodwill: This is a great place to find older, vintage style pieces. Look for an old prom dress, maybe a trench coat and go from there. You could go as a zombie bride, 80′s prom, there’s so many ideas out there, you just need to find a piece to set the idea off! Find some pieces that you can use so most, if not all, of your costume is made from recycled materials.

eBay and Etsy: These two online retailers always have great pieces. Etsy is great to look for one of a kind costumes or pieces for a unique touch!

Here’s a few costume ideas that won’t take too much time. You might even have a pieces in your closet!

Mother Nature: You could do so much with this idea. Pick a dress or skirt and top and keep the colors blue and green. Add flowers (fake, real, or both!), butterflies, flowers, whatever you think is earthy to create the ultimate mother nature goddess. Just remember to keep the green and blue hues in the mix.

You can braid you hair and add a flower headband or wear it wavy, with flowers placed throughout. Add animal jewelry or carry a stuffed one with you to complete the look.

Nerd: This is one of those SUPER easy costumes. Find some skinny jeans, a simple tee ( or graphic with something fun on it), maybe a cardigan, some flats or converse, suspenders, and of course some  nerdy glasses (maybe with some tape in the middle). You’ve got a first class nerd!

Sugar Skull/Day of the Dead: What’s great about this costume is it’s all about the makeup! You design from head to toe what you’re going to look like. Search for some ideas of different sugar skull makeup tutorials and go from there.  Once you’ve got the makeup in mind, head to your local Goodwill or thrift store and search for old prom/wedding dresses, find something with a little mystery in it. Maybe some rips, tattered ends, stains, etc.

Use your creativity for this one! Whether you choose to make  to your own costume or buy one,  get creative. Take an afternoon and do some thrift shopping, get inspired this Halloween!
