Fabulous Shipping Container Buildings

Shipping containers have been used for years in the creation of buildings. In 2006 Peter DeMaria, designed the first two-story shipping container home in the U.S. that met the approval of building codes. Since that time, shipping containers are being used as homes, office buildings, art, hotels, pop-up stores, retail spaces, tree houses and more. Take an eco look at a few of our favorites.

• 90% of bulk overseas goods are shipped by containers and most are a 1x use and sit rusting in yards.
• About 18 Million Cargo Shipping Containers worldwide,

What impresses me the most, is the creative ability of people to see beyond a steel box. To take old rusted materials and re-create into a funky, affordable and livable home. If I ever to was remodel, I would consider a shipping container home.
