IMF Classic Car Day 2016

An annual charity event called the IMF Classic Car Day runs every March in Chelsea (VIC). The event, which brings in classic cars from Victoria and beyond, is a fundraiser for The Isabella and Marcus Paediatric Brainstem Tumour Fund. The charity raises funds and awareness for research into a little known brain tumour called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).

The 6th IMF Classic Car Show fundraiser took place last weekend. The event has become quite significant for Melbourne folk with a love of all things vintage. As well as over 550 vintage and classic cars, trucks and motorbikes on display, this year saw the first Pin Ups on Parade, and pop-up shopping opportunities for all things rockabilly. Hats off to the pin up ladies, maintaining poise and elegance dressed up in their finest, whilst the midday sun bore down her intense rays.
 

Another surprising treat for visitors like me; Melbourne’s first fashion tram Birney & Co set up shop at the 6th IMF Classic Car Day. The vintage bus, which resembles an old tram, travels all over Melbourne selling second-hand and quality vintage threads to shoppers.

Step inside the bus and you are transported into another time. Find men’s clothes on the right, women’s on the left. There’s even a curtained changing room, too.

My parents (visiting from the UK) also treated me to a special Gilberta Galah brooch by Melbourne based designer Erstwilder.

Oh and did I mention cars? So many beautiful specimens. Why don’t they make cars like this anymore?

A good day had by all. Not only that, but the IMF Classic Car Day 2016 raised a whopping $34,000 for the charity.
