La. Sinkhole Quakes Occurring! Over 90 in 'Spasmodic Burst'

Following an earthquake at the salt dome complex in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday, along with increased seismic acitvity at Louisiana’s Napoleonville Salt Dome under its giant sinkhole Tuesday, over 90 micro-quakes occurred Tuesday night at Assumption Parish’s sinkhole disaster site in what an expert has called a “spasmodic burst.”

Seisomologist Dr. Steve Horton has reported that a “spasmodic burst” occurred at 1:34 this morning with 90+ micro earthquakes happening overnight, according to Assumption Parish officials.

A spasmodic burst is rapid-fire sequences of HF earthquakes that persisted for minutes to tens of minutes, according to US Geological Surveys (USGS).

“In addition, there were several observable long periods (VLP) events recorded on seismic monitor LA12,” officials’ written statement said Wednesday morning.

USGS says about VLPs:

As the number of volcanic systems monitored with broad- band instrumentation increases, it is becoming increasingly clear that very-long-period (VLP) volcanic earthquakes (sources that generate seismic waves with dominant periods between 2 and 100 seconds [Kumagai et al., 2001; Ohiminato et al., 1998]), represent an important component of the spectrum of geophysical signals produced by active magmatic processes.

“Dr. Horton and Dr. Pettit are working to locate the events,” according to officials.

As this author reported in a Before It’s News article Tuesday

1) A small quake occurred in the Gulf Of Mexico’s salt dome complex Monday, and

2) That Gulf dome complex is linked to Louisiana’s collapsing salt dome in Assumption Parish, under Bayou Corne and Gand Bayou communities and the giant 9-acre “sinkhole.”

The Gulf salt dome complex and sinking 1-mile by 3-mile Napoleonville Salt Dome in Assumption Parish are connected by a fault system.

Increased seimic activity had already begun Tuesday during the day, as shown by a graph Tuesday’s article by this author: Gulf Salt Domes Quake, La. Methane Explosion Risk.

This seismic activity is increasing the risk of a methane explosion at the historic “sinkhole” site has resulted in officials repeatedly telling locals at the sinkhole disaster area to abide by the mandatory evacuation order. Some locals, however, have remained.

The high-risk of explosion was also recognized by celebrity human and Earth rights adovocate Erin Brockovich, who said Tuesday that “an explosion could happen any minute” there.

A pattern has been established that increased seismic activity is soon followed by the hungry hole swallowing more of the parish and the size of the monster increases.

Also of note is that Monday, a warning was issued about the possibility of increased instability at the Louisiana “sinkhole.”
