Parenting the right way-Intimacy

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

It seems to me that writing about parenting without knowing anything about that seems pointless. But I can talk from the child’s point of view. I have had a lot of issues with my parents, but I never cursed them for being persistent in keeping me out of trouble.

I do not know what about me makes people feel intimate towards me. And yes, I take pride in being trustworthy. When I think about that, I find that my parents were intimate towards me, always there to push me towards the right path.

I think that intimacy is the most biggest issue in parenting these days. Most parents resort to a more harsh form of parenting to make sure that their kids never fail to live up to their expectations.

1. Pampering: I am thankful to my parents for not pampering me after a limit. I could always feel their support, but not their presence. I faced most of my issues alone and my parents supported me and showed me the way, but they never guided me through that path. I feel that most parents worry about even the most simple things when it comes to kids.

2. Supremacy: Who is more important: the kid or the parents? I think that most parents, especially fathers, fail to establish an intimate and affectionate relationship with their kids because of the idea of supremacy in family. Because kids are small and immature, nobody gives a parent the right to dominate a kid’s life. I see this every day in our local daycare.

3. Authoritarian and libertarian: I have to say that my parents have a bit of both these traits. My father is a little bit authoritarian and my mother is a libertarian. I think that a kid needs both these traits to survive, but most parents are too busy that they forget their kid’s individuality. If you put too much pressure into the kid’s life, you’ll ruin his self-esteem. On the contrary, if you give too much liberty, they’ll end up in the state penitentiary.

4. Happiness: Before my grandfather died, I never knew how much I loved being around the happiness of his presence. I believe that intimacy is the only way a kid will ever understand true happiness. When I was in the seventh grade, my uncle buying me a watch for winning an essay competition. I still remember him telling me about how happy he was. Intimacy creates happiness, and kids that never feel intimacy from their parents will never experience real happiness.

5. Restrictions: I think you do not have to be an intimate guy to understand that their are limits to being intimate. We used to have a psychotic neighbor, he fed his kid’s brain with all the perversions that even I did not imagine. Can you imagine what he might be now?. There are limits to being intimate, kids do not understand the complexities of life. Being over-intimate towards kids might have severe implications.

I am not a parent. I hope to be one after some four or five years later. I may not be a parent, but I was a kid. And I was raised by good parents. I could imagine what my parents went through to make me who I am now. The intimate relationship I had with my parents made me compassionate towards others, and I hope that my online friends could feel this intimacy as well. It’s never too late.
