Quest For An Ideal Body Drives Insecurity in Women, Survey Finds

A recent survey conducted for the eating disorder charity The Success Foundation in partnership with the University of the West of England found that 30% of the women surveyed would trade at least one year of life in order to achieve their ideal body.  Additionally, many women surveyed said they would forfeit a promotion at work, part of their salary, time with loved ones and even their health.

These feelings are not limited to adolescent girls or England.  In the U.S., about 10% of all women suffer from eating disorders; at least 50,000 will die as a result. Eighty percent of women are dissatisfied with their current appearance.
