Everybody knows that vegetables are good for you in a bunch of different ways, they contain both protein and carbohydrates, so they are already balanced. They are mostly made up of water and fiber, so you can use them in large quantities if you want to. Do vegetables feature in your food diary, it’s suggested as a Type 2 diabetic you should eat at least five servings each day? A diet rich in vegetables has been shown in clinical research to help Type 2 diabetics keep blood sugar levels stable.
It is a well-known fact that a variety of vitamins, minerals and other extremely healthy chemicals can be found in large portions, inside pretty much every vegetable known. If fruits are included in the mix, that just makes it even better! But of course, there is the problem of being able to eat a bunch of vegetables. Potato chips are a whole lot easier to eat than Brussels sprouts or green beans. And chocolate covered turnips just never quite went mainstream.
One solution to the convenience issue of getting plenty of greens is to simply juice them:
Now, for clarity’s sake, this does not mean giving them steroids, which is sometimes referred to as “juicing”. But all kidding aside, putting your vegetables in the juicer and just being able to drink them down is a great way to make them a convenient part of a meal or snack. You can pop half a dozen servings into your juicer, and you only end up spending a few minutes preparing them and putting your fresh vegetable juice into its container. This is ultimately way more convenient than carrying about a bag full of veggies, and munching on them throughout your day.
Juicing vegetables has a few downsides to it… here they are:
One is the taste… if you have ever had a V8, there is a very good chance you had to pretty much chug it down, just to be able to finish it. The taste is just awful, unless you happen to enjoy powerful tomato juice mixed with the various other things they put into it. Just imagine if it was nothing but bitter vegetables… it would truly be a test of your resolve.
The other difficulty in juicing vegetables is that it can be a little inconvenient. Way too many people end up scrambling around every morning, just trying to get dressed and find their car keys. If you aren’t well organized, finding the time to arrange, prepare and juice your veggies would be all but impossible.
But if you are willing to upgrade your level of organization, you can do tremendous things for your health, without spending a ton of money. A juicer is probably the best $50 or so that you will ever spend… and you can get them at flea markets for even less.
A recent analysis of existing research suggests that eating more green, leafy vegetables can significantly reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and in the case of full-blown Type 2 diabetes, help with weight loss and healthy blood sugar levels.
