Ebola and EV68 have reared their ugly heads. And yes, we’re a tad cautious. We’ve prepared for lots of things – but not a pandemic. I wasn’t mentally ready for all that jazz – the Government-Meets-ET yellow hooded suits, the full face respirators, etc. A big ol’ earthquake? Sure. Zombies, not so much.

One thing we did not have in our medical kit was a touchless thermometer. I didn’t think we needed it. Turns out, it’s not only helpful, but in order to keep yourself virus free, it’s necessary. Plus it’s a GREAT way to freak out your dinner guests: “Come on in y’all! Just – er – let me zap you once to make sure you’re not sick. Oh, and don’t forget to take off your shoes.”
