don’t even think about opening up new mexico’s forests and river ecosystems to this sort of development. aluminum? the people of this land use dirt. mike reynolds also has the hobbit house and earthship covered. this is trailer trash. for people who want little bungalows along the rio grande. or in the mountain meadows of our protected forests. next you’ll be inviting ISIS to retire there. or former columbian drug runners. like they are doing in colorado. by the way, the rio grande headwaters do not belong to colorado so that corporations can plant patented marijuana. it belongs to the people of new mexico, texas and mexico. and also not to coca cola and nestle. some things need to come to an end. it would help with the plastic problem as well. this aluminum hideaway is not the solution. it is an invasion.

Naturally heated? In order to obtain geo thermal heat the structure needs to be down inside the ground to reach the constant geo thermal temp of around 54 degrees F. To just throw earth over a structure does not provide geo thermal heat and the roof has to be at least 3 feet thick with dirt. Dirt is not a good insulator, and so how do you apply insulation to the interior of these structures? Use potentially toxic spray in foam insulation? If the interior walls were conventional vertical walls without any curves then the use of framed walls to hold fiberglass insulation would be a good idea.
To claim that the earth makes a good thermal mass requires that the earth also have insulation over it to reduce its thermal losses.
